How long does your kettle take to come to the boil?

Totally agree. I have started, well actually some time ago, not just now, putting water from the hot tap in the kettle.
That way it boils much faster, especially if I let the tap run for a short time before putting the water into the kettle.
Not sure where you live but it certainly speeds the boiling up in Norfolk. Just a suggestion.

I am in Thailand with a slightly lower power supply (220w) and in my black electrolux it took 1.18 secs for 2 mugs of water.... big mugs tho...

Another handy hint is to move to somewhere at a high altitude. Failing that simply purchase a vacuum chamber and boil the kettle inside it. Save power by getting one with a manual vacuum pump 👍
Sneaky. Saving time by boiling the water at a lower temperature! Won't be so good for making tea though! In a vacuum it could boil at such a low temperature that it probably wouldn't be much hotter than the water from the tap..... which would save the most time (making tea direct from tap water), but the tea would be pretty rank!

This is the kind of content I’m here for.

Im staunchly in the hot tap first camp, although the Mrs thinks I’m some sort of Devil worshipper for doing it.

How long does it take for your paint to dry? I have just put on a coat of emulsion on the bedroom wall and Im now timing its drying phase with a stopwatch.

Have you tried turning up the water temperature on your boiler to max and then running hot water from your hot tap straight on to your tea bags?
Worth a try.

On an Aga, it’s way too long. It’s one of the few things I don’t like about it, especially when it’s in slumber mode.
