How concerned are you about climate change?

every heat pump solar panel EV reduces the impact of the individual, and has a positive impact on climate....but, yes, population control is required. The difference is that the more schemes like EV and solar are used, the less we need to reduce the population by to have balance restored.
This is true Mart, but the population has to half for the Earth to be sustainable long term. Half was plucked out of the air, of course.

We have finite resources and the population has to reduce enough for resources to replenish faster than we use them.

Wish I'd never had a child. Why would I subject her to what is coming when people before me and my generation don't give a **** about saving it.

And saying he might have had a point is being kind.

How exactly is it helping "them" control our lives?

It's conspiracy theory bollox that people tell themselves because they don't like the alternative thought that we're screwing the planet.

Or I mean I suppose all these green political parties could be part of a shadowy sinister organisation really running the show and the likes of the Tories and republicans and all the other far right climate denying fruitcakes are those who are really fighting the good fight to keep our "freedoms" intact from the green fascists.

It's a tricky one 🤔
15 minute cities for a starter ,

I have a low tolerance for stupidity, this thread has been a great way to filter some of that out, that’s another two on the ignore list.

Now, I know someone will cry ‘but surely listening to different voices is good’ or ‘free speach’, agreed where the comments are no complete 🦇 💩 nonsense that have published science behind them. Can’t be bothered having my life polluted with people that have just decided scientists are wrong without actually doing any experiments to prove otherwise.
I read this this morning. A good short read about Climate change, confirmation bias etc.

Everybody has the challenge of confirmation bias, agreed. But on this topic, the evidence is overwhelmingly in support of man made or at least heavily influenced climate change. There's loads of stats on it. There are hypothesis from skeptics, but no repeatable experimentation that proves man made climate change to be incorrect.

Follow the experts, follow the science, that's my mantra in life.

That paper is about Philosophical Skepticism which relies on empirical evidence and peer reviewed papers. Not the type of people who believe in conspiracy theories such as MMR vaccines causing autism. It is aimed at people who only believe the science when it suits their viewpoint. LIke this:-
I have alot more important things in my life to even worry about it all.
The earth's been here 4 billion years according to science and has went through many periods of warming and ice ages according to science, so you are now telling me according to science we have caused it using products that are from the same planet its ruining? Wow. Think some of you need to educate yourself and question things.

Who said I believe in any conspiracy? Who said I only believe science when it suits my viewpoint?. You're making alot of assumptions about me there, you follow what you want and I will make my own opinions on things.

I have no doubt it's happing. I should be concerned.

Yet being completely honest it's not something that crosses my mind. I get more 'stressed' about the fact my mortgage has gone up again etc.

It's hard to think about 'the end of the world' in 25-50 or a 100 years time.

The cost of living / health services and everything else that's on its ars* is more of an issue for me. I'm sure I'll be told all that's irrelevant compered to climate change.

Yet unfortunately on a day to day basis it's unfortunately not for many.

You can see that by the responses about the roads being blocked. The average person is more 'bothered' about getting to work to pay the bills or make a hospital appointment they've probably waited 3-6 months for.

I'm only being honest. I'll always have 'bigger' concurs than something going on in the future. I'm sure many would agree.

I could recycle more or buy an EV. Yet it makes no odds whatsoever. China and India keep pumping out pollution and Aircraft and Ships keep pumping out emissions. It's not the everyday person that's the issue....Again tying into the protests effecting the wrong people.
I like to refer back to what the Romans did when Hadrian's Wall started looking a bit shabby.

Yes. It’s not that hard to understand that surely? Releasing carbon is bad, we
have only done that in earnest for a few hundred years. The climate changed over millennia previously, now it’s over a microscopic time period, Conclusion - mankind has brought about climate change.

We‘ve also found out smoking Is bad for you. Or will that even itself out by becoming good for you again.

The person that needs educating is you.
Who's talking about smoking? Wow I've really got some people mad on here by not agreeing with you 🤣, I've got my own opinion on things that's how the world works unfortunately.

As I’ve said before, I was told at school that if we carried on using fossil fuels in the way we are doing then places like Hull will cease to exist by the year 2000

Well Hull is still here!!!!
I remember in the 70s, showing my age here, that the world was entering a nice ice age due to fossil fuels, then it was global warming due to carbon emissions now its climate change , well guess what the climate always changes so they ain't wrong anymore.
I'm guessing most people on this board are under 40 and too young to remember the amount of ***** these so called scientists have spouted over the years.
Fact is reducing this co2 and spending trillions and trillions on carbon lowering machines etc whatever is just gonna make certain people more rich and do sweet **** all to the giant ball of mud that we have lived on for 300000 years of the 4 billion its been here 😂

Under 40 😂😂😂

Who said I believe in any conspiracy?
Nobody. I said people who only believe the science when it suits their viewpoint and, unless I've read it wrong, in the piece I quoted you mention scientists three times and you seem to believe the science the first two times but not the third when It doesn't align with what you already believe. I apologise if I am wrong.

Yes your wrong I was just quoting the science also says the earth's 4 billion years old, so the science is always contradictory, it's all just theories at the end of the day. Nobody really knows anything about this planet and let's face it we won't in our life times.

I get that and think they have a purpose

But we have over 6 billion people in the world and places like India and China are westernised and will want personal cars like we have. There’s no way we are at the stage electric cars will be available at the level petrol and diesel cars are at and if they were that’s a problem and not a good thing

I can’t really be bothered having the electric car debate. Personally I think the solution and future needs better answers like subsidised public transport, less personal choice and investment in public transport

People like Prince Harry being a climate campaigner needs knocking on the head
