Hermes destroyed my parcel

I sent my granddaughters birthday presents using this company. I got an email from them saying there had been some problem and I should contact them. When I eventually got through on the phone the agent I spoke to said the parcel had been destroyed. I had philosophical/scientific discussion with him as to the difference between damaged and destroyed. He stuck to his guns and said it had been destroyed. I then asked to speak to his line manager he said he didn't have one. You can imagine what my temper and blood pressure was like at this time.
I have since tried to get other numbers of even an email address for this company it is a nightmare.
Have you had a similar with this awful company? Avoid them at all cost!

I wont use hermes.... If i want to order something and i see hermes is down for delivery, I change the method even if i have to wait a few days or i buy elsewhere.

I've had 2 on-time deliveries by them this week. Didn't choose to use them, they were just the preferred carrier of who I ordered my stuff from.

Never had an issue with them tbh, but yes, heard lots of bad things about them.

I've had parcels marked fragile thrown over a six feet high wall into my back garden by Hermes. Other packages have been found by neighbours in their gardens. I'm not convinced that they even slow down before hoying boxes out of the van window in the general direction of my house.

Got to hand it Royal Mail. This week the postie even took the trouble to sign for my delivery himself "forging" my signature, before leaving the package on the doorstep, thus saving me a job. What a level of service.

I was in of course, even saw the rest of the post come through the letter box. So was a bit surprised when I received a confirmation email a minute telling me my package had been delivered and signed for 🙄

I am due a parcel from Yodel today - the message I got from them says its coming from City X but the diagram shows its coming from City Y in the opposite direction. The Van driver is supposedly delivering 136 parcels today seems a lot to me considering he is covering 2 large rural counties. He/she must work a 18 hour day :( and be paid 75p per parcel. Just think a first class stamp now is 85p.

"Lost" many of my parcels with no accountability, you're lucky you even got to talk to them.

I now actively do not buy anything from any company that uses them. Disgraceful company.
Same here. Wouldn't use them myself and would actively seek alternatives if a company I was buying from uses them.

Dealing with them after they've lost a parcel (ie. successfully delivered it to a random house in another area) is an excercise in hopelessness and futility.

You could not make it up - I am getting an advert on here for me to work self employed for Yodel as a courier van driver - it says competitive rates of pay. Should be for 136 parcels a day.

We aren't allowed to let you handle our PDA during the current climate, so it's perfectly legitimate for your postie to "forge" as you put it, your signature. What he or she will have probably signed is the word XP1, which is the code we have to use to tell the system that the parcel has been delivered. Maybe next time go out and ask the postie, I'm sure they would have been happy to explain.

If it's anything like here, they don't even bother to ring the doorbell when they leave anything. I usually find out about it from the camera over the door.

Well I can't speak for New York, but when I do it I usually knock, make sure the customer knows I'm there, tell them I'm signing for them, and retreat.

There's a screenshot of the signature on the track and trace website, it's just a squiggle and it says "signed for by: festa5".

Anyway as I say it was left on the doorstep, so nothing to do with handing over the PDA.
