Helloooooo from the hozzy!

Can't help with any personal experience Blondie, but send my best wishes for a speedy recovery. As others have said, do as your told, they know what they are doing 😉

Jeez Blondie you don't do it by halves do you.
Just sit back and let those wonderful NHS folk make you better and put you back on the road to full health. You'll have the cats looking you over and wondering if a human too can have nine lives.
Take care.

Gooodness Blondie, hope this is the last curveball like this that life throws your way. Your strength and the support around you has seen you through a lot and you'll be over this soon I'm sure. take care and Kiha Kaha as we say in NZ

Well blow me! Am currently lying in a hozzy bed at Royal Derby.
At 11.30pm last night I got very severe chest pains. Knew something was wrong so called out Paramedics/Ambulance.

Given my history with cancer round the chest area, ie: breast & lungs - I thought it was probably to do with that.
But oh no, I’m not that lucky - I’ve only gorn & had a blummin heart attack haven’t I!! FFS!

I’ve done the tears thing. Done & dusted.
Hardest was telling my partner & friends who couldn’t believe it and understandably in shock themselves.

I’m still in shock too atm.
It’s totally the last thing I expected.
Still trying to take it all in.
Keep having to ask the Docs/Nurses and Cardiologists to explain all this new terminology to me, doh, lol.

Any fellow FMTTMers had a similar experience who may be able to offer me some encouraging & positive thoughts perhaps?
Maybe some advice or words of comfort?

Looking forward to hearing back from yous.
Cheers
Carmen

Very best wishes Carmen - three of my friends had heart attacks around Christmas time. They all had very close calls but like you got to hospital in time. They all had stents fitted. My archaeology boss, Phil, came closest to dying but amazingly enough he was able to drive again within a couple of weeks and was even able to return to work (outside) within a month. He is about 10 years your senior. I am joining him for some food tomorrow, he tells me he will be giving the parmo a miss this year.
I hope this helps.

Hi Carmen,

I thought it was something serious at first but only your heart. I thought you had to have one before it could be attacked!! 😉

Don't be laying there malingering pretending you are ill, you need to get your backside up so we can have a few more rounds in the coat cupboard, you aren't getting away that easy. ;)

Keep us all posted on how you are doing, take it easy, follow the instructions you are given and you will be right as rain soon.

Best wishes. 😘

Your old mate

I have zero experience of this but you are a strong woman Carmen. My thoughts are with you. Surely it is just a little heart attack, no big deal.. right :)

Bloody hell Blondie you don't half go through it. Get well soon mate, the only advice I've had from a friend who had one was to do what they tell you. He's as right as rain now, so you'll be back in PP before you know it (y)

Sorry you are having a tough time with your ticker. Wishing you all the best Blondie and do as the Docs tell ya.

Hope you have a quick full recovery.

Not quite the same. However I have had two 1 week periods in hospital in the last 2 years. On both occasions I presented with ministroke like symptoms. Very strong pins and needles in my left arm and an inability to speak clearly for around 30-60 seconds. Both were said to be heart related.

The first was diagnosed as caused by high blood pressure. The second as by arrhythmia. Both are being managed by medication and I am able to lead a normal life. Thank goodness.

I hope all turns out well for you too.

Crikey. The best thing is you're in the best place. I had a heart attack followed by a triple bypass in October/November last year and spent over 5 weeks in hospitals in Norwich and Cambridge. The NHS are amazing. Just do what they tell you and don't push yourself too much. Best piece of advice I've had was "listen to your body". Get well soon. If you need any other advice or insight, drop me a PM.

I had a heart attack then stents fitted. That was back in 2011 when I was just 49. I've also had a Stroke (months before the Coronary) and countless TIA's.
But I'm still here, still going and looking forward positively and happily.
I rattle with the drugs I take every day, but so do lots of people and they keep me safe.
I rarely binge drink anymore, or drink much, haven't smoked for 24 years and generally live a more healthy lifestyle. In turn life is good.

The emotional impact was greater for me than the physical, but you have already had that in spades and then some with your other experiences.
There is nothing like thinking you are about to die, or nearly died to give you a jolt and make you reflect.
A young South African doctor in Northallerton Friarage A&E saved my life that saturday morning and James Cook stopped it happening again that monday. I will forever be grateful to the good people who do that for others every single day.

Angioplasty is now fairly routine - I can still remember being laid in James Cook looking up at the big screen as the tube spread across my chest and around my heart. It is surreal but not painful. My tension was waiting half an hour while the consultants decided whether the chronic blockage in my right artery could be fixed by stents, or whether I would need a bypass. (Dad had a bypass when he was 59 he's currently 85 and I wasn't keen on it). I was lucky and they also decided the 50% blockage in my left artery was best treated through drugs and lifestyle.

I thought I was so important at work and stupidly went back far too soon.
Take your time Blondie, listen to the advice of the pros and then follow it. They really do know best.

All the very best to a lady I've never met, but who is obviously a lovely lass.

All the best Blondie, you are in the best place. Derby Royal took great care of my old fella when he had cancer 15 years ago. I remember you as a regular poster back in the day when I was much more of a lurker.
