I celebrated by sitting in a massive traffic jam on the M4 near Newport.
Whoop!

We just didn’t have a clue really, did we?

Wouldn’t swap it tbf, and realise while we could have done it so much better, it’s perfect as it was.

Like a few on this thread I went to the 1996 Euro final at Wembley between Czech v Germany, we had been to all the previous games at Wembley watching England and nearly didn't go to the final because of England being knocked out.
The 1993 League. trophy between Port Vale and Stockport, there was few hundred Boro tops dotted around the Vale end that day.
Without looking at Google can anyone tell me why?

Good friend of mine was a coach at QPR for a while so he took me to their playoff final vs Derby County a few years back.

The one where Derby absolutely battered them but didn’t score and then Bobby Zamora scored a smash and grab goal after a horrendous Richard Keogh error to send QPR up.

I enjoyed the day out knowing I didn’t really care who won the game. It was nice QPR won though as there was an after party at Loftus Road with the players and staff which got pretty rowdy. 😂

Yes ✔️, and Paul Kerr and Dean Glover both who had a cult following amongst Boro fans even after leaving and you would hear about Boro fans going out of their way to watch Glover particularly.

I expect us to be doing the same at Millwall in the future.

I’ve been to the following..unfortunately as you can see I’ve not picked particularly well!

2006 World Cup Final. Olympic Stadium Berlin. Italy v France. 1-1 (5-3 pens).

2021 Euro Final. Wembley London. Italy V England. 1-1 (3-2 pens).

2003 Champions League Final. Old Trafford Manchester. Juventus V AC Milan. 0-0 (2-3 pens)

2008 UEFA Final. Etihad Manchester. Zenit Saint Petersburg V Rangers. 2-0.

Quite a mixed bag for me.

In the UK I saw the League Cup final when Oxford beat QPR and the UEFA Cup final in Manchester that Rangers were in. I was at the Lowland League Cup Final in Edinburgh a couple of years ago and locally I’ve seen the finals of the Alan Hood Charity Cup, North West Durham Charity Cup and Northumberland FA Benevolent Bowl.

Abroad, I’ve seen the equivalent of FA Cup finals in South Korea, Germany (men and women), Spain and South Africa. I’ve attended legs of two Asian Champions League Finals, one in South Korea, one in Saudi Arabia and also the Club World Championship between Real Madrid and Al-Ain in the UAE.

I’ve been to loads of play-off finals in South Korea as they won’t allow anyone to win a league simply by finishing top and some international tournament in Bangladesh where India took on the Maldives.

Not sure if Super Cups should count, but I’ve been to the Russian one in Kaliningrad and the Milan derby in Riyadh.

I was at Wembley for the Women’s Euros in 2022.

The only one for me was the Germany v Czech final in Euro '96

We walked out after Germany scored the golden goal cos we couldn't bear to see them lifting the trophy :cautious:
Was at that game after winning a comp. Took forever to get out car park after the game. Also went to AFC Wimbledon game in 2011 v Luton when they won promotion from conference at Etihad.

Darlo In the 3rd division play off final I'm 1996 at the old Wembley, I think it was Plymouth they played. I was working in darlo at the time and went on a coach with a few workmates

I know the thread did say football.....however .........》》》》

Rugby Heineken cup final 2019, at St james park, Newcastle...leinster v Saracens. Just intended going up and enjoying the atmosphere in the fannzones, they decided to see if we got get a ticket from a tout, which we managed. Great atmosphere, it was basically like an ireland v England international the amount of star players on the pitch

Thanks for hoofing this @SCG

It’s now three divisional play off finals and two Johnstone’s Paint/Bristol Street Motors Trophy’s and they’ve still won the lot.
I’ll add some more.
1999 Third Division play off final
2015 FA Trophy Final
2018 Scottish cup final
2019 Welsh cup final
2024 Football league trophy final

Bet Mclean(Irish league cup) Final in March… just waiting for tickets to go on sale…

Arsenal v Sheff Wed FA Cup final in 93(?)

Darlo playoff final against Peterborough (?)

played in a monsoon on a Friday night at the old Wembley ? Because there was some poxy England friendly the following day? Hence a tiny crowd of about 30k? Darlo dominated, Posh nicked it late on.

That’s the one!

Took us about six hours to get back to Peterborough cos all the trains were up the swanny.

I was at that one and can confirm both that, we won it, and didn’t seem to know how to celebrate afterwards.

Stunned, puzzled fans, tipped out into the streets of Cardiff.

I took my family for a curry in Ross on Wye.

If it had been at Wembley, and I was there, we’d have lost…
I have a similar record for Wembley as you

4 Boro finals, 3 England games and Darlow v Plymouth =.8 games, 8 defeats

Edit, I keep forgetting that Leicester wasn't a defeat so 7 defeats and a draw

Whitley Bay in FA Vase Final
Darlo in FA Trophy Final

Played back to back at Wembley. Went with a mate who was a fan of The Bay

Darlo v Plymouth playoff final in 1996. Darlo lost. By brother had been a Darlo season ticket holder all through his teens and took me as 15 year old as he said I may never get to see Boro at Wembley.
I got to go to two of the three Boro Wembley finals in the following two years.

Yeah, Blackpool play-off finals, three of them. They won them all. Family friends made sure I went to the third one (Championship play-off) after I was there when they won the other 2.

As an aside, been to a fair few Blackpool matches and only saw them lose once and that was to us when Caryol scored. So yeah, official mascot ;)

Was extremely strange seeing a team win at Wembley. Was pleased for them, yet sick as a chip at the same time.

Spurs v Norwich. 1973 League Cup Final. 90 dire minutes memorable only for the winning goal by Ralph Coates. 1 nil to Spurs.
