Worst thing about this is that I still haven't won anything.
Appreciate the advice, but it's not my device, it's the site.
It would have to be paid. The level might be higher than you would be happy paying. But one of the real problems would be with the ability to block or ban posters.@fmttmadmin have you ever looked into an ad free subscription tier ?

There is a complexity of issues that did not exist 10 years ago with site users and responsibilities. I have a friend that changed to a subscription model at another club. He keeps his site at a smaller fan base where there is mutual trust. He also provides lots of content. I can do that but I don't think our fans now either want content and don't want a scaled down membership.Instinctively that seems something that is easily sorted with T's and C's, even that a subscription allows access to an advert free version but doesn't guarantee access to the service etc ... although I can perhaps understand that is a potential hassle you don't want or consider to be worth it.
What about an honesty box with a recommended amount ... (although perhaps average/expected revenue per user is again not something you would want to share ?).
Was still going last night, but seems to have stopped this morning. Thanks @fmttmadminManaged to get hold of tech department this morning. Should be removed today.
Why not ask them? You might be surprised. Then you can work out how much you would need to charge to compensate for your lost ad revenue. You would need to guess how many would subscribe, but I would imagine their are algorithms for that.I don't think our fans now either want content and don't want a scaled down membership.
I'd be amazed if this site was generating a few thousand a month in ad revenue. Why not ask them? You might be surprised. I suppose if you are getting a couple of thousand a month from ads you would need 200 paying £10 p.m. or 400 paying a fiver. That seems unlikely.
Realistically, looking at the regular posters, you might get 40 subscribers who would then have to pay £50 each.
Not a chance.
So it is understandable why the ads are the better way to keep the numbers up while giving you some income.
I wouldn't have a clue. Other than Rob has previously said he needs to make a living from it, so it must be a reasonable amount. And maybe he has to pay his staff?I'd be amazed if this site was generating a few thousand a month in ad revenue.
