Has anyone got a holiday coming up?

Tenerife 3 weeks today with Jet2.
I'm no betting man but I think he odds on my holiday being cancelled are not great

Venice at the end of April for our 10th wedding anniversary so we'll have to bin that sadly. Back 'home' (NY) in Sept but that hasn't been booked yet as we only need flights

A bit like our honeymoon, the anniversary may have to take place a year later

No, you said the policy was a 'high fatality outcome' and the plan was 'to cause 40 million people to be infected to develop herd immunity'.

Nothing he said could be interpreted as seeking an outcome of high fatality that I could see. Would welcome any quotes to the contrary if you have them as that is serious.

Regarding the plan, as I understand it intention is to broaden the peak of the infection so as not to swamp the NHS. The development of immunity is a consequence of the spread not a desire to CAUSE the spread. I have not read anything to suggest that government policy is to increase the number of people who contract the virus.

"Our aim is to try and reduce the peak, broaden the peak, not suppress it completely; also, because the vast majority of people get a mild illness, to build up some kind of herd immunity so more people are immune to this disease and we reduce the transmission, at the same time we protect those who are most vulnerable to it. Those are the key things we need to do.”

We were the opposite. Avoided booking NY when this came up. Venice is the wife's favourite place and we have been about 6 times. If you rearrange and want some tips for eating places let me know. If we rearrange I may come back to you for some NY advice if that's OK.

Or both to be fair. You said yourself it can (and almost certainly will) hang around in the population for a long time if not indefinitely.
My point is, personally I think April will be rough. Really rough. But if it's as bad as you think it's going to be it'll bunt itself out a bit. You can't spread as a virus by killing your hosts . If it isn't that bad then it'll linger but just become a background thing. Like flu or cancer

I’m not suggesting anything other than ‘suggesting anything’ is just a bit daft. We know jack schittt and the medical experts are not in agreement either - unless they are and governments around the world are ignoring them for other reasons,

I've got a 'once in a lifetime trip to Vegas' next month....

...except I almost certainly haven't!

Oh well... it'll still be next year, if I am!! :censored:

Does anyone know how you stand if you booked an apartment through booking.com and the date has passed to cancel for free ?? Don’t want to lose all our money 😩

So as Spain have gone into lockdown we are officially cancelling our cycling trip to Majorca. We were due to fly out Thursday. BA let us change flights for free but will charge premium on popular flights. Trying to,rearrange for October and those premiums are high. Hotel will charge just one night cancellation. Bike hire shop will hold our money for a future trip.

Spain? Depends when. As Government have deemed travel as only essential for 15 days all cancellation charges can be claimed back on your insurance. Best to contact your hotel and ask if they can either move it or what they will do. Some are being flexible but as they will be in financial Armageddon you can’t blame them if they insist on the charge and the insurance is your option.

I have a cycling holiday planned in Lombardy near Lake Como, it's also coinciding with daughters wedding over there in June, we will just have to wait for further advice, I don't think we will be going now. Just hope everyone gets well and things clear up for next year.
