Has Ameobi been released?

Stojanovic left after that list was released.

Ameobi being released does fit with what Rob was saying a month or so ago about Warnock saying he didn't think we'd ever see Ameobi in a Middlesbrough shirt again.
Yes I don't doubt it - just would expect Boro to announce it rather than just cancel it on the quiet, as there wouldn't seem to be any point

He played plenty of games for Forrest in the couple of seasons before he signed for us. The injury was in pre season wasn’t it? I’m not sure a medical could have identified the problem.
Yes, the injury was in only his second trading session IIRC, suggesting there has been a **** up with his medical is just plainly wrong.

I expect he'll have to retire now shame for the lad

He's on the "Given a free transfer" list.

Very strange the club haven't said anything on it.
I can only come to the conclusion that there must be a legal thing going on, with NDA's etc. That's the only thing that makes sense.

Or as tramp said, some sort of ban, but wouldn't that be knowledge released by the FA?

The FA routinely covers up certain bans for forms of recreational misconduct. Not suggesting that's the case here of course

It's definitely strange. The fact we've never seen an interview or pictures of him in rehab and 'messing around' with his teammates.

Wilder and Warnock give very little away when asked. Usually if it's an injury they keep you updated.

I definitely think some kind of legal action is taking place. That's either trying to get him out of his final year or he's breached his contract somehow.

Even career threatening injuries, there is usually some attempt at rehab before the specialists advise there is no point.
As said, never seen at Rockcliffe, local hospitals etc......very strange. No reports in the media, Warnock and Wilder give a short answer when asked when he's back and quickly move on.
Why the wall of silence if he has been a naughty boy? Plenty of athletes have failed tests and been publicly named and banned (not suggesting this for one minute for Ameobi), but this is odd.
Oh well 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️
