Hackney

Great to see Hackney starting over Mowatt.. just goes to show how wrong he was.

I’m guessing he said Payero and Coburn were not good enough either!

Injury to Clarke might mean Bilongo plays..
Luongo not featuring could Fletcher there?

In January might it be worth sending Hoppe out on loan and recalling Coburn?

Maybe see the return of Payero?!?!?!?
If any manager is ever going to fancy Payero you would imagine one of the most cultured midfielders this country has produced in a generation would be it. Or maybe not 🤷🏻‍♂️

Plus if anything can convince him to return to these shores working said same best midfielder in his generation could well sway it.

Huge day for Payero tomorrow, just need to win at home to midtable Independiente and he scoops himself up a league title medal. Even a draw will good enough if second place don't win and they have a much tougher home game.

Mmmm, more silverware than Wilder will be getting then, I’m sure there is a moral in that story somewhere.

The thing with Payero that people don’t seem to take into consideration is that maybe he was the one who wanted to leave. We don’t really know anything about his situation; was he happy or unhappy, was he itching to go back to Argentina or move to a Spanish-speaking country, or did the club just want rid. It’s east to just blame Wilder or someone behind the scenes but without knowing Payero personally it’s very difficult comment on it, let’s be honest.

I wonder who else from the academy will be looked at by carrick as a possible first team squad member.
With Luongo looking nowhere near and Crooks rumoured to be injured I’d be taking a closer look at Issac Fletcher.

Joe Gibson was on the verge of a start last season.. I would have thought with Payero and Tavernier being gone that Gibson would have played a b***r role than he has.
Tommy Smith at right back and Paddy McNair 2nd string central defence might give him that chance behind Isiah Jones further up the pitch?

Bryant Bilongo looks absolutely class to me, obviously very raw and a bit lightweight.. but with Matt Clarke injured I’d like to see him get a bit more game time.. back up to Bola?

If there are any more players to come through the academy it’s got to be either Kavanagh or Finch.

Lacks mobility for championship football

Gibson has potential, but played wing back the last year so would be well behind Jones

Bilongo is a real prospect

Payero didn't settle in the U.K. he was homesick, had family issues and for the sake of his own mental well-being wanted to return to Argentina, he felt very isolated when he was injured and the club were hoping he'd be open to a loan move to a Spanish club for a season with the long term aim of reintegration back into the squad as they'd invested a lot of effort in getting him to the club but he really wanted to go back to South America.

In this instance it's a shame but they've done right by the player, I know it's easy to criticise but unhappy players are of no benefit to the club and it's unlikely that given his situation he'd be producing anything like his best form.

I think he’ll turn to man U for loans as well.
