Hackney

It's horrible and despicable, but really, there are a lot worse things humans can do to each other.
Exactly. It's disgusting and he was rightly banned for it. But compared to other stuff some players get up to its fairly minor really. We've employed players who've done worse over the years.

E.g. Rooney cheated on his Mrs with a prostitute. Plenty suggesting he could be an option for our next manager, not seen anyone saying he shouldn't be considered based on past behaviour.

Hackney did more last night than Mowatt has all season. I'm not even exaggerating either.
It's not hard mind!

I was impressed, could actually notice he was playing which is a novelty for a centre mind of ours this year. He did alright, has energy and certainly looks progressive, he should get better if we give him a few games/ sub appearances.

As for our midfield situation, the hernia explains Crooks performance drop, and our lack of form and lack of getting in a quality centre mid was probably the reason we didn't get the operation done over/ before the international break. We will need Hackney to step up, so we can free up Crooks to get the op after the Norwich game when the World Cup break starts, and hope he lasts until then.

I'd still have McGree in there ahead of Hackney (now we have chuba back, and Watmore/ Forss options), but I'd get Hackney on every game, at least until the window.

Wilder would have probably had McGree in centre mid, had we signed a striker he wanted. So he seemed to have preferred McGree in the 10 role when Chuba was out, so he lost that option in centre mind. I suppose he would have been reluctant to put Hackney in there as he was under the cosh, so went with Mowatt who the club brought in. I suppose his thinking was, why should I risk a young lad when you replaced our best CM with our worst? He put his trust in experience, or was making a point to the club, probably a bit of both.

The fact we've knowingly had Crooks playing through a hernia this season makes me even more angry at our recruitment team.

Shipped out 2 midfielders, one of them a key player, and only brought in 1 near the end of the window and then signed a free agent in desperation who's still not in a condition to play.
All whilst having another key player needing surgery and having to play through the pain because of our own ***** recruitment.

Ludicrous.

Must have missed the Crooks hernia/op info. Where did that info come from? Might explain his dip in form
Came out during the Radio Tees commentary.

I suspect it does explain his dip in form what we don't know is when the hernia was diagnosed so it is a bit unfair to blame the club/physios when it may have appeared to be just a niggle that wouldn't "go away".

Speaking to Maddo pre game he said in his opinion HH should have been given a chance weeks ago as he possesses some of the qualities we have been lacking in midfield.
I watched a dodgy stream which had their commentary on last night, from that it seems like Maddo knows HH really well, he said he knew yesterday morning HH was in the team and rang him to remind him that when he got a chance to get his shots off he should, you could feel Maddo was chuffed he was in the team, he did critize him later when HH fouled one of their players for not being in a better position to put the tackle in and said that is a weakness in his game.

HH played better than Mowatt or Crooks has all season. There was a sense of anticipation when he got the ball that we might go forward, he had something of the unknown which was refreshing because we're used to snail like pedestrian football with the midfield so far and he slotted in well. Deserves to keep his place and if his performance is anything to go by Liddle and co who know these boys shouyld be looking harder at the reserves this morning, telling them the route to the first team is there. Get a few integrated this morning in small-sided games, see who else we can bring in. Might save a few quid in January who knows.

He did well, and deserves to be involved again in the next game. We will need someone else in center midfield sooner or later anyway, due to injury / suspension or just tiredness to the others, and it may as well be him or perhaps Boyd-Munce.

I'd like to see Boyd-Munce, Bilongo, Gibson, Fletcher, Kavanagh (Liddle/Catts) know more than i do but they're the ones i can think of. Get them in and around the first team, see what they're about because we're going to have injuries and stress on players and this lot may need a space on the bench or even cameo appearances throughout the season. They may not be good enough, may crash and burn but they may take to it and thrive.

There is little doubt that some of them could be an asset to the first team squad Vesta. I have seen little from Boyd -M that gets me excited. Gibson has put on some beef and looks slower in body and maybe thought - Tony McMahon syndrome but lets hope this ray of Hayden light gives him hope and enthusiasm. the effervescence of youth can make up for a lot of technical stuff and even a bit of nouce. I have seen some terrific stuff from Bilongo but not as consistentently as I'd like but his extra pace gives him a bit of an edge Fletcher is well thought of and has been out on loan. A bit behind Hackney in development terms but could well be the next guy to come through

Other than Gibson they seem to lack a little bit of "beef" to cope with senior football

Exciting times for the kids

Thought he had a really good game. We need legs in the midfield and he gave us some much needed energy (I also thought Crooks looked lively than usual without the ball too).

HH looks handy with the ball too, some nice touches/turns and not afraid of running with it (which is much needed when playing without a 10).

Most important, and barring a couple of panicked tackles when he lost position, I thought he looked calm and assured, with and without the ball. Definitely phased playing at this level.

If Luongo exists we've now got 6 options for the 3 midfield positions.

If HH knuckles down, gives it full concentration, listens and learns, there is no reason why he can’t be the next £12m Tav in 3 or 4 seasons time. Just my thoughts.

Delighted he got his goal

I couldn’t understand why wilder disregarded our options in the academy. Worse really as he said they weren’t good enough.
Great to see Hackney starting over Mowatt.. just goes to show how wrong he was.

I’m guessing he said Payero and Coburn were not good enough either!

Injury to Clarke might mean Bilongo plays..
Luongo not featuring could see Fletcher there?

In January might it be worth sending Hoppe out on loan and recalling Coburn?

Maybe see the return of Payero?!?!?!?
