Greatest TV series ever?

Reminded of a great, but rarely shown gem of the past yesterday, by the passing of actor Jack Hedley. Better known to those of my generation as Col Preston, Commander of the British prisoners of war in Colditz! A programme much loved by my 10 year old self and my school mates, but hardly ever seen on our screens for some reason or other. Have caught up with episodes over the years during my travels in the US and Canada, and must say it more than stands the test of time!

If you want to watch something comparable to "World At War" I recommend Ken Burns' Vietnam War, in many ways it forms a very important companion piece to WaW
Yes, really enjoyed that series as well, some of the musical links were brilliant. The US version was quite a bit longer than the one originally shown over here.

The beauty of TWOW was that it interviewed people who were “there”… but also enough time had passed which allowed people to talk more openly about it.

I seem to remember there was a bbc series on the Iraq war a few years back, which was very good
