Great comeback to stop the rot - it’s all about getting over the line now

The thing that worries me is we seem to be quitr poor off the ball as soon as the opposition team take our attacking players out of the game.

Teams are constantly targeting the right side of our defence with balls over the top and catching Smith/McNair out. The two midfielders don’t offer enough protection either.

How often do we win second balls? We almost just stand off them and don’t even attempt to win them.

Going forward and with the ball, great, no problems at all.

Happy with a point but it doesn't hide the fact the defending has cost us a lot in recent weeks. Our attack play is fine but we keep getting caught out with diagonal balls or through balls.
Think it needs a refresh, fry a definite for me and maybe dijksteel for Smith.
No criticism of the players, just think dijksteel gives us more pace and fry is just a better defender.
Absolutely...given our defensive frailties and being targeted with tge same tactics, the pace of Dijksteel ought to be given a chance. This defence will not help get us promoted, that's a near certainty.

Next game Norwich the side directly in that too 6 hunt so if we win or draw it stops them in their tracks as well.

Smith is playing like a CB when they have the ball. Gets caught out too much. Djiksteel played that role under wilder. Think he’s probably better than smith going forward too.

It would’ve been interesting to see how we would’ve done with Dijksteel on the pitch.

Would’ve been hard for him to be throw in when he’s been completely out of the picture.

Need to get a bit back to basics (i dont mean stopping playing football, just keeping our shape) at the back and tighten up, but it's a big point for us . A couple of wins should see us into the play offs for certain, and probably would guarantee 4th and a home game in the 2nd leg.

A key time for the team and the manager to ensure we go into the play offs with confidence

It wasn't pathetic or shocking or similar in the first half. Could have easily been in front.
No it wasn't pathetic at all. Definitely felt like a win with the come back. Can't believe the extreme negativity from some. Good point against a team that dispatched some good teams there this year.

Good afternoon in the end and enjoyed the game particularly the second half where we showed character.

Does anybody know what’s wrong with Fry and why he wasn’t even on the bench
Couldn’t agree more about playing Fry over McNair and Djksteel over Smith
When Fry plays he covers for Smith a lot and hides smiths inadequacy as Smith has a tendency to ball watch and drift inside

Our best player in the first half was Steffen, we had zero shots on target and were 1-0 down when we went in with our right back continuously exposed throughout the half by diagonal balls.

Chuba has best chance that goes in there’s only one winner

I remember cloughy’s tale about kicking off in the dressing room with the defence asking them how many he needed to score to win the game.
Difference being, the defenders were bent and throwing them in on purpose. And Clough knew it.

Agree with that steffen was mom for us. The diagonal balls were working because McNair was 5 yards behind the rest of the back 4.
