Grealish

Lad in his 20s who likes going out, it’s not that bad. I think he’s class and doing exactly what I would do - and probably most of us - if we were that age, somewhat good looking so I’m told, and winning everything at the best team in the world.

Read an interview with him a few weeks ago and was so refreshing to hear him say, “I like going out for a drink, different people relax in different ways.” You’d think Pep would be all about iron discipline but it reflected brilliantly on him for me, letting Grealish be Grealish to get the best out of him.

He might not have as long a career as the yoga disciples but he will have enjoyed it in his best way.

No comparison with Gazza, he was an addict with very clear mental health issues. Grealish just comes across as a very normal, very honest and self-aware young lad. If he reminds me of anyone, it’s Peter Crouch.

Exactly what the others have said, the kid is a breath of fresh air.

Always thought he was a bit over rated and was amazed when city paid the fee they did for him but fair play since the World Cup he has been immense and it’s really refreshing to see how much it means to him.

Personally I think he has his head screwed on and is down to earth and his personality was summed up for me when he did the snake celebration cos a young lad he’d met who had cerebral palsy asked him to.

Drink driving suggests he doesn’t have his screwed on correctly

He’s been caught drink driving during lockdown . He easily could have killed somebody

People are quick to forget that
Yeah was gonna mention this before. Not saying it defines him as a human or anything but he could have done a lot of damage. This isn’t quite “normal” behaviour, it’s the classic arrogant behaviour footballers are often chastised for.

Am a bit torn on this one, tabloids glorifying his excess will be quick to pull him down when he messes up, but he’s a lad in his 20s doing what most of us would have done and what probably young working class lads still do. He’s a product of our culture, which promotes booze and hedonism when it suits, but frowns on addiction.

Reminds me of the one annoying lad on a stag so who takes it too far and ruins it for others
Based on nothing at all he’s probably a bit insecure and a people pleaser, but it could easily all go t*ts up at some point. Must say he’s surprised me this season how he’s taken
on board Pep’s tutelage. Looked a class act when he burst on the scene at Villa and saw him run the game against us at Villa Park the season they went up. Strange that both him and Declan Rice could very easily be turning out for Eire in another era.

The best example being the ‘glorious’ two day **** up when we won the Ashes in 2005. Two years later the same folk are lambasting Flintoff for nicking a pedalo ***ed up in the Windies!
Yep thought of the exact same example. Plus the various Gazza ones. Back in 1990 when he was wearing the plastic t*ts etc Gazza was glorified for being “a normal bloke” etc, until it became pretty clear that his love of partying/booze wasn’t quite normal.

It's not like he hasn't injuries that have kept him out for a while before, and he's coped fine. I do think the media need to be careful about making a bit of a laugh about it all, but him personally, he's been out multiple times for months at a time and seems to have been fine during and after them.

Don't think it's really a Gazza situation where there's some big lad dying to get out and he'll go off the rails with it.

Strange take.

I’ve always thought he’s a lad from an ordinary background who knows he’s got a gift playing football at the top level, so works hard plays hard.
Agree, comparison with gazza is wide of the mark. I like Grealish but he has neither Gazza’s talent nor his personality.
Mind, seeing his Dad on sky sports, that fella doesn’t come across as the brightest shilling (to put it mildly)
Perhaps he was nervous with a camera in his face, who knows…

He needs to tone it down a little certainly, can’t begrudge celebrating after the champions league but some of his partying during the season has shown a bit or arrogance in that he thinks he can do what he wants. It will take its toll on his body and it will effect his longevity in the game. He’s prone to poor decisions socially and just needs to grow up abit, theirs a time and place to let go and he just needs to get that balance right. He was present and drunk when all the trouble with Benjamin Mendy came to light he could have easily been dragged into that more than he was. The lads got bags of talent and from an England
perspective I want to see him flourish.

Linking him to Mendy is below the belt. He only joined City 3 weeks before Mendy was charged with multiple counts of rape and I’ve seen no suggestion anyway that he was in any way linked to those allegations. I’m bewildered by the thought process that leads someone to jump to such a conclusion as he was lucky not to be dragged into a rape accusation. ☹️

I never said he was involved with the rape I said he was present. She went back to Mendys home because of Grealish to sleep with Grealish which she did. He had to give evidence to that in court. My point was he was drunk it could have been worse for him. People make bad decisions when p1ssed up. So get off your high horse read what I wrote hell read the reports from court before jumping down my throat and miss representing what I wrote.
