Good game just unlucky

Boro got what they deserved. Millwall weren’t particularly brilliant but still got created four good chances.

Passing was poor all game. Too slow and giving the ball away frequently. We desperately need a striker and left back. Depending on injuries we might need a right back too.
 
Basically a mirror image of the 2nd leg of play offs v coventry. Plenty of possession but little penetration. Not surprising given the team had less quality today. Teams seem to have sussed us out at home. Our build up play can be quite neat but we get to the opponents 18yd line and its side to side passing or intricate triangles that create space but very few opportunities for an incisive pass to a runner As the away team have got back in numbers and close down the angles. Akpom would have made a big difference today as he may have taken some of the attention away from rogers.

There's one or two positives to take.

We're a better side when Howson plays and before the team sheet was announced most of us were fearing that he was out for weeks.

Ditto Akpom, though of course his inclusion on the bench may have been more mind games and he may not be ready yet.

Dieng thus far looks like a great replacement for Steffen and at least we actually own him this time.
