Gold Season Card Holders

Nothing is ever simple with MFC

How do you know that of the 7900 who have renewed there are "plenty" who would choose not to go, how many is plenty? Have you spoken to "plenty" of the 7900?

Why bother with a ballot? Sell the maximum tickets available and maximise income. The club needs it. What ever the club do some people will be disenfranchised, alienated, the club cannot appease everyone.

How many tickets do you suggest the club sell as season tickets and then hold back for ballots then? What if the club end up not selling the balloted tickets and lose income?? Someone said we'd never had less than 9000 at the Riverside for a league game. Well we've never played in a Covid affected season before and although we've had poor teams last seasons is up there with poor teams of the Riverside era. Looking at the current squad there's not much optimism for it to be a great deal better next season so <9000 might be a first.

You haven't commented on how the club are supposed to manage allocating seats to comply with social distancing/bubbles if matches are balloted and it has to be done on a match by match basis.

• All 19/20 SC holders retain their GC or Chairman’s Drink status regardless of whether they renewed this season or not - I agree.

I’ve spoken to and read comments from many supporters who aren’t particularly keen on going this year as they have underlying health conditions, are shielding or in general are concerned about catching the virus.

If the club had asked this question as a starting point, they’d be able to provide actual data on this.

“ You haven't commented on how the club are supposed to manage allocating seats to comply with social distancing/bubbles if matches are balloted and it has to be done on a match by match basis.”

It’s incredibly simple, you apply as a bubble and you fill the ground with those bubbles until there’s no space left. Those who miss out go to the top of the list the following game.

You make it sound so complicated you must think the big Premier League clubs with many many more season card holders that are doing this such as West Ham and Spurs have some of the intelligent people in the world working in their ticketing department.

Soon as it came out I renewed, it wasnt as if we were never going to play at home again, and they were always going to re-emburse us. Why didnt you renew straight away?

I renewed myself as soon as the initial estimates came out for the 25% attendance potentially being allowed in, then managed to get a couple of other family members renewed during the ‘glitch’.

Apologies everyone, I had hoped to have posted on here earlier than now, a couple of issues cropped up (family related) that I had to deal with.

So what have we been doing...

Since the beginning of last week a number of us have been asking for ideas and views from supporters via social media, message boards etc around how the remaining tickets for a restricted Riverside could be sold.
As you can appreciate everyone has a different view on this.

I have collated a lot of the views into a sort of report that builds a bit of a picture that I will be sharing with MFC.
MSF discussed these points at a meeting held on Thursday last week (without MFC)

I won't share the overall document, but some of the main points and common themes are as follows:
  • MFC needs to officially clarify with supporters that have been unable to renew their season card what will happen with loyalty points, season card status and if they can get their seat back the following season
  • The number 1 issue fans raised was around lack of official communication from the club in regards to the above point..
  • There seems to be a large consensus that a proportion of general sale tickets should be made available to supporters to ensure that fans have some form of opportunity to get to a match.
  • A ballot type system seems a popular choice for general sale tickets
  • There is a fear that if no general sale tickets are available, some supporters may not have attended a game for 12 months - forming new habits, fan engagement is lost etc
  • Once the stadium capacity has been confirmed and general sale ticket allocation agreed, a lot of supporters have said that the remaining tickets should go back on sale for season card renewals. 2 options for this has been mentioned, either first come first serve or invite season card holders in loyalty point order to renew.
  • MFC along with other championship clubs to put pressure on both the EFL and TV companies to keep the match subscription service available whilst stadium capacity is still restricted.
  • There is an expectation that a proportion of supporters that have renewed have done so out of panic, in order not to lose their GC status or loyalty points. Some of these supporters may not attend matches due to shielding. Could the club do a survey of these SC holders to establish their intentions, they may change their mind if they know they can keep their status.
  • Ideally a system to be in place to allow season card holders that have renewed but are unable to attend some games, to sell ticket back to club so others get the opportunity to attend.
Hope this gives a bit of an overview of the general feeling at the moment.

Cheers

Have the club indicated any willingness to engage with the Forum and discuss these issues/suggestions directly?

Nice to hear MFC are starting to do something about it.

It's not a nice position they've been put in, and I have sympathy with MFC for that because this world pandemic is out of their control, but they could have definitely acted better than they have done so far.

Making statements other than generic comments like "deadline extended," "ticket sales suspended," and "tickets on sale to gold card holders only" would have been a step forward. You can't blame a pandemic for an inability for proper communication and transparency with customers I'm afraid.

7900 tickets have sold. It's a bit late to be "starting to do something about it." Treated fans like dog turd.

Let's see how things pan out after our meeting later today.
All the main arguments from here and various other forums have been pulled together into a very clear document and presented to the football club we will then discuss everything later on today. And then Mark Motley will put some notes out afterwards.

After tickets have been resolved it would be good to know what steps the club are putting in place to ensure the safety of those attending the matches. Knowing this may help fans decide wether to go or not as mentioned in some posts above.

That is on the list of questions and very important indeed.
I know this may sound trivial but are the club planning to open the kiosks and sell food and drinks, once the initial fans are allowed to attend, I can’t see why not, as there shouldn’t be crowded concourses and the correct barriers and screens could be installed, after all, if done safely, it is all extra revenue.

We have just finished the meeting - it was quite lengthy and a very open, frank discussion. We discussed all the points raised and it is fair to say that there is an amazing amount going on in an ever changing situation. For instance reopening football is not like reopening a shop or pub. There is an absolute mass of safety rules and guidance etc. The position around seating bubbles is really complex for starters. Far more than any of us had realised. But they are working through this now.
We were very pleased with the meeting as we did debate a lot of concerns and there was a good deal of understanding in response.
There will be full and comprehensive information and guidance issued directly to the fans from the club. That info should cover all the main questions that we have all asked, just about everything touched upon on this thread. We just need a few more days patience on this.

Afternoon everyone

I thought it was a positive meeting last night, as Rob mentions lots discussed.

We took along questions, concerns and ideas raised by supporters on a variety of subjects that came from either contacting us directly or from what has been said on social media and fan forum boards. We are happy to say all points got discussed. (tickets, concourses, stadium capacity etc)

We also learnt a lot. I think we came away with a new found appreciation of the guidelines the club are working to.

One thing is clear and can’t be underestimated, there is the huge amount of work and planning going on in the background.

The club are also waiting on a number of their own questions to be answered before concreting their own plans with supporters.

As Rob also mentions, the club then plan to issue some comprehensive information and guidance that should answer most supporters questions and sets out their plans.

One other pleasing element of the meeting, was the willingness of MFC to continue to meet with us, communicate with us and involve us in their plans.

I think we are all guilty of having impatience around this, but a little bit more time is needed on this one.

It's great that MFC have a willingness to communicate with you Mark, but their communication with most fans throughout this has been atrocious.
