Gold Season Card Holders

Anyway, we discussed everything from this site and stuff other people had unearthed on social media - but Mark will put it together tomorrow.
Then whatever other points people have between now and middle of next week.
Sadly, there is no solution that will please everyone. But the club making public direct statements is really important - I agree and so many others are saying this as well.

I got lucky in that I got my renewed during the 'glitch'. If I had not I would be really wanting to open up the remaining seats to ST holders. I have had one for 20 years and only didnt renew earlier as I was seeing what would happen. The sudden closing of sales was not expected! I would be gutted now if I had not got lucky (thanks to whoever it was spotted the glitch). I like the idea though of being able to free up your ticket for general sale. Lots of ST holders dont attend every game due to illness or work or something so that would make sense.

Can that work unless everyone from the bubble doesn't attend?

If no general sale tickets are made available for 18 months, most likely i'll be taking a step back from the club in all honesty. You never stop supporting them, but i'll follow from afar and that breaks my heart.

As someone has said previously.....there is not one single solution that will keep every single supporter happy.

Some supporters will feel let down regardless of what approach MFC take.

No matter what route MFC go down, with this situation, there will be some fans who won't be best pleased.

It's unprecedented times and us fans should just have to accept it. MFC will be trying their upmost to keep fans happy - which is virtually impossible.

As someone also said previously, the sheer entitlement on this thread is staggering.

I'm assuming the last line of your post is directed at mine, in which case i'm astounded that you think wanting to watch at least 1 home game in 18 months is staggering.

Feel free to take the last sentence as you like.

Who mentioned it's going to be like this for 18 months? I hope it isn't.

Morning everyone.

I will be putting together some notes and some of the common questions that I have come across over the last few days. I will continue to add to that over the weekend.

Last nights MSF meeting was to discuss ideas and options for the sale of any remaining tickets, and some of those ideas came from this board.

Over the last couple of days I have spent some time reading through this board as well as other Boro forums. I have also had a look at what supporters of other clubs are saying as well as keeping an eye on what has been said on social media. There seems to be a lot of common themes. It feels like supporters of other clubs are all asking the same sort of questions.

I think we all agree its really difficult situation to work out, and there is no doubt that whatever route MFC take with the remaining tickets, there will be unhappy people either way.

Cheers

Mark, I can imagine how hard it will be, finding the happy medium to appease as many supporters as possible, keeping within the current safety guidelines and not alienating a lot of support that will potentially have long term effects, a lot of clubs in the same position, some a lot worse if they have smaller grounds.

I have just had word from Reading fans this morning - a similar stadium to ours.
They haven't even started on next season's ticketing yet.

Perhaps they're trying to get a coherent plan together before presenting it to the public instead of leaving cards on sale with no announced deadline, then suspending sales with no notice, allowing GC customers to renew but not publicising they didn't need to to keep their GC status and not publicising they could renew their child tickets. Oh and then accidentally allowing anyone to renew online if they read message boards such as this.

To be honest we are in a much better position than Reading, if they haven’t even started their sales, with less than a month to kick off, we are now only left with 1100 tickets to make a decision on and no doubt well on the way to a seating configuration plan.

We aren’t in a better place if you care about the long term fan base. The situation as it stands is unfair to the vast majority of fans (once again I say that as someone who has renewed). I appreciate the difficult financial position the club is facing but they need to look beyond just this season. If people stop going it’ll be very very difficult to get them back.

I really think you are overthinking the issue of getting fans back, many fans have had a season out and gone back, this area is a hotbed for football, people will return.

I hope you’re right but I fear you’re not. 18 months is a long time and the money will be spent elsewhere and new habits formed.

although that is true, as a long standing (chairman's drink but not gold card) season ticket holder the haphazard approach taken by the club so far is really annoying me and contributing to a feeling of unfairness against the approach taken by the club - especially the weekend glitch allowing non gold card renewals to take place that if you read this board you were fortunate enough to know about, whereas i had just checked MFC website for info about the next stage, saw that there wasnt any and then checked Monday realising i had missed an opportunity - again. that coupled with the club giving no notice about withdrawing the purchase of SC originally a few weeks ago is making me angry. I had naively assumed there would be a fair process, publicised to all, and if Id then missed out through not doing the process i would have accepted it. This way feels like im already shut out through no fault of my own. i hope that makes sense.

If we'd had a stable average attendance figure year on year, i'd tend to agree with you. Unfortunately we don't. Couple that with prohibitive walk up prices and 18 months of no football and people WILL form habbits away the Boro. Not to mention the swathes of young supporters that won't get the chance to get hooked or those that started attending and will lose interest.

We're all Boro fans and I think it's unfair to discriminate against people who weren't old enough to have a Gold Card and shut them out. I also think it's unfair to those season ticket holders who had been waiting for more news before renewing only to find the door slammed shut unexpectedly, only to learn later (like festas_shin above) that some managed to sneak in via a glitch without it being publicised to all. I know those who renewed via the glitch will feel this is wrong but the club have to cancel those sales (or allow all ST holders to renew) or risk alienating thousands of season ticket holders who weren't aware of it and missed the opportunity, it's just not fair, all ticket holders should have equal opportunity to attend through an official publicised process.

The fairest way would have been giving a final renewal deadline to all season ticket holders (GC and all) irrespective of length of holding the ticket. Then the club know exactly how many SC holders want to attend games next year. They all go into a ballot for tickets, you could ask for individuals who sit together to be grouped together like say the Wembley or Eindhoven tickets were so you don't get a situation where a Dad gets a ticket but a son doesn't and it also allows for bubbles to be formed.

In an ideal world you'd have different ticket holders going to different games, so all season ticket holders get to at least see some games live. This might prove logistically difficult though, the only way I can think of is grouping bubbles so in say match 1 a bubble of 4 sit together, in match 2 all other groups of 4 who missed out in the match 1 ballot go into a draw to replace the bubble of 4 from match 1 and take their seats. This way the stadium configuration for social distancing can remain broadly the same but different groups get a chance to attend together. However I accept this may slightly increase the risk of the virus transmission due to more different groups of people attending different games and coming into contact.

I understand the EFLs position on streaming but there has to be some option for streaming season tickets to allow people who can't get in stadiums to see games. I'm not sure how the revenue streams are split and what percentage of the £10 match fee for a stream goes to the club, but surely extra sales of streams must help clubs increase their revenue and help them stay afloat in difficult times? I'd have some streaming season tickets with a bundled price that gives you a discount over paying the £10 match to match fee, say £150 - 175 for a 23 home match season. Season ticket holders who miss out on a game ballot get this for games they miss seeing in the stadium.

I say all of the above as a GC holder, but I think fairness has to win the day on this one. As festas_shin says above missing out via an official equitable process might be disappointing but understandable, but to miss out due to essentially not hearing a sneaky underground whisper is just not right. The club need to do it properly and above board or risk p*ssing everyone off.

I understand about fairness but I think everyone who has renewed already should keep their tickets, the people who nailed their colours to the mast early doors and renewed before the tickets were on hold, the gold cards for continued loyalty and the people who used the small window of opportunity that opened after the gold card deadline, they can’t be penalised either, they did nothing wrong.
