Apparently Gibson is having a private gastro pub built int he grounds of his new mansion. Won't be open to the public, but is for him to entertain his guests. Nice work if you can do it.

His money 🤷‍♂️ (assuming he's up to date on his taxes, it's got nowt to do with anyone else, personally I'd probably blow £3mill on a Rod Stewart-esque humongous model railway)

Perhaps he finds he can't go to a local pub without being bothered?

Absolutely it's his money, and I'd have my own pub if I was in his position too. I believe he's had deer introduced onto his land and will have organised shoots and hunts.

If its not open to 'the public' then it isnt a Pub (pub-lic house)

its a kitchen with a bar, cellar and tables - plenty of houses have them.

my kitchen is in the basement, i store my drinks there and there is a table and a mixture of chairs - we had a right good afternoon yesterday - i cooked salmon, new potatoes, roast potatoes, broccoli, and a salad with mint, baby cucumbers, shallots, red onion & organic red sweet peppers.

there is an external door that leads to outside steps that bring you out into the garden, here you can smoke and continue drinking - like in a pub - only its not a pub.

it was invite only, so my guests - its not a pub, its a kitchen with drinks available and an outdoor area.

why shouldnt Steve Gibson be able to do the same as me in his house ? - there is no reason why he shouldnt, what-so-ever.

I know it's his money and he's entitled to do whatever the **** he wants with it, but he was a saint (almost) back in the eighties and nineties. Now it seems every so often, and with regularity, a story comes along and knocks a bit more gilt off his statue. Started with backing Wharton in the election for me. We've been very lucky to have him but he's not the great bloke we all wished he was.
