Fuel shortage

I queued for petrol today. I was 120 miles from home with 40 miles in the tank.
I suppose I could have just put in 10 litres or so to get me home, but I filled up. Does that make me selfish or sensible?
I'd say that you should have put in 10 litres just like you normally would.
Instead, you filled up and added to the problem. Which there wasn't even one in the first place.
You panicked bought with all the others and created a shortage.

Putting aside the fact that we agree that this mess is a making of the idiots in charge; do you think that the citizens of other countries wouldn't respond similarly to the news and announcements made?
Hard to say. I would like to think others would show more restraint and consideration tbh. It is the minority I am sure, but a sizeable minority no doubt. Sad that the rest of us have to share the same country as these people. The pandemic brought out the very worst in some people. The elderly and vulnerable, and nurses leaving 12 hour shifts, were left looking at empty food shelves in supermarkets. Just seen a photo on fb of a moron filling lots of cans with fuel at a garage. I rest my case.

I nearly always fill up - which actually reduces my overall time spent at a petrol pump. (I also have 240 mile round trips tomorrow and Sunday so was planning ahead for them).
In fact drivers who put in a little bit at a time over several visits probably add to the overall queueing time.
The point I was making was not to assume everyone in a queue is only there because they are panicking.

I think the reality is that humans act in specific ways depending on the incentives. When these idiots in charge tell you not to do something, people have learned to ignore them and do the opposite. As Mr Gibson would say..... If they told us the grass was green, we'd go outside and check.

If only that translated into people not voting for them

That makes no sense whatsoever.

At least you admit that Brexit is the cause. I didn’t expect you too.
When you have a pile up on the motorway in fog, the immediate cause is poor visibility, the root cause is driving too fast and not being able to stop in time. Or if you seize your engine due to lack of oil, immediate cause is oil, root cause is poor maintenance. Hence immediate cause is Brexit, root cause the referendum. I'm not interested in leave/ stay arguments it's gone like the doorman long tower. The next generation can vote it back in if the E U exists.

It hasn’t gone at all. Brexit isn’t complete and we could still fix the broken bits. If only those who are too embarrassed to admit they were lied to could actually let go. It’s staggering they can’t

More condescending posts,is that all you've got.😄
That's all he has in his locker, which is sad, no one has to justify anything to anyone, but as the norm goes, you have a debate & then if you don't agree you fail to disagree, but when only one party resorts to name calling then you have to walk away
