Fuel shortage

I normally only put £20-£30 in but filled up this time.
I've just gone past one of the garages and it is busy but no queue onto the road, so I can say we are still panic free.

3 petrol stations I know of closed in my town.....loving my Tesla today :D

Seriously though, people, fuel is a vital service, the government are the root cause of this ridiculous situation and yet again it isn't happening in other countries, so don't buy into that excuse. The country is FUBAR'd if you don't do your duty and get this lot out at the earliest opportunity

Looks like Johnson is fed up with the bad news headlines and emergency visas are now to be provided to European HGV drivers.
Grant Shapps was across all media channels this AM saying it wouldn't make a difference, the EU had their own driver shortages and so our problem wasn't due to B*****.

So is this basically pointless window dressing of being seen to do something even though you know it will have no effect or was the Minister wrong?

I've passed 3 fuel stations and all rammed. The point is they said yesterday that BP have shut a few smaller forecourts but still more than enough fuel.

The very second I read that I thought 'everyone is going to panic buy'. They simply didn't need to a say anything and everything would be as normal.

The moment you say 'don't panic buy' people do. You could do a social experiment and say 'Stella is running low' and everyone would stock up'.

It f*cking winds me up. These are probably the very same selfish loons who bought 30 packets of bog rolls or cleaned out the pasta during lockdown😕

I don't care if its brexit or covid related. Just stop being selfish f*ckers and get fuel when you actually need it.
Selfish people I agree. Re the toilet paper fiasco at the start of the pandemic it made me realise this isn't Great Britain anymore. Sadly, we have a sizeable number of ignorant, selfish people who will ensure they meet their own needs irrespective of the needs of others.

Grant Shapps wrong...

Perhaps  ;):ROFLMAO:

Of course there is now the problem of convincing European truck drivers to come here when they've just been told a year or so ago that they are not welcome.

The Tories have long confused low paid with low skilled.

Apparently, because HGV drivers didn't earn enough they were counted as 'low skilled' so the government excluded them from Visa schemes.

It doesn't look like they're the low skilled ones in this equation.

Whilst I don't doubt that there are some selfish people about, this kind of thing becomes self fulfilling and isn't really the fault of the people on the forecourt.

You can see above that people who are going about their daily business, fill up rather than putting in the usual £20 because they have family commitments etc or need to get home or go on long trips. I don't think that's selfish.

Thankfully I drive an EV but friends are struggling to get fuel to see family up north this weekend so that might be off

Before getting my EV I would always fill the tank up to the brim and never run the car on less than a third of a tank. So was always sure I could get to where I was going.
