FMTTM Coffee Club

Three coffees today has wired me so no nap for me this afty!!

It was a really good meet up with Norman Conquest and sadgit and is something we are now going to do at least once a month. As Norm says, we went to Kirkleatham Walled Garden cafe today but we can vary venues.

I’ll message folk via the conversation facility. I’ll add Norfolkred1 to that list. Anyone else, just let one of us know.
I'm home the next 2 weekends (after this one) if you guys are meeting up at any point then.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do. Hope it all works out well. This is why I love this place.
I've jousted with ThatFragranceGuy a few times on this board (always came off second best) and not in a good way and yet he's willing to offer support on something he's very knowledgeable in. I am sure if the boot was on the other foot, I would have done the same. We are all like one big family who bicker with each other until one of us needs support and we all come running.

This board has been like this since I first came on here some twenty years back and never fails to offer guidance, advice, and support when needed. What a great family we have with each and every one of us looking out for each other.

Long may it continue.

Wow. What a great post. I agree 100%.

goalscrounger - It was good to meet you this morning and put a face to a name. On reflection of your age and the school you went to, I was wondering if you went to school with Peter Quantril and Andrew Whitcombe?

My wife was in the same school year as the two above at Gillbrook and she also attended Normanby Primary. She is dying to know your surname.

I was also trying to think of a member of staff (Pete Buckby) you would have known from Bydales and it came to me when we left the cafe. Pete was big in the DofE and was a fountain of knowledge when I was delivering it at LJS.

Have a safe journey back and I look forward to catching up when you are home in January.

guisbourough_rob - It was also good to see you again and give my regards to your better half. When we previously met up you mentioned wanting me to woodturn you some thing for a Christmas for Nicky. Let me know if or what you want and I will knock something up for you.

Give me a shout when you want to meet up again and we can see if Sadgit and Norfolkred1 if they fancy (or anyone else who wants to join us).

Good to meet you too NC (and to catch up with you again Rob). I'll send you a direct message with answers to your questions!

Looking forward to hopefully attending another coffee club when I'm home next in January.

Our little group met up for coffee at Mima again this morning with Sadgit, guisborough_rob and myself joined by SocraTees. It was really good to put a face to the latter and funny how we have so much in common, following a similar path of working in heavy industry and then going on to work in education.

Mima is an ideal place to meet and is central for everyone to get to and offers a decent coffee. One day we will have to have a look at the galleries

Mark - You will certainly have to pop over and have a go at the woodturning. I will get my current projects out of the way and then give you a shout of when I am available.

SocraTees - If it is OK with you, I will pop over next Friday for the wood and will text you for your address.

Rob - I will pick you up if you fancy a drive out and will text you details after speaking with SocraTees.

NorfolkRed1 - Hopefully you can make it next time but work must come first.

To all other board members, give us a shout if you fancy joining us one morning, it certainly isn't a tufty club and everyone is welcome to come along. Rob is busy planning another get together for around 8th December, with the venue to be arranged. It is a couple of hours out of your day and nice to meet up with other like minded people.

For those who live out of town - We are going to meet up one Saturday morning prior to a home game before Christmas and then we can all go our separate ways and do what we normally do before a game.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

It was really great to
meet up with Alan, Rob and Mark this morning and spend a pleasant couple of hours in good company. Decent coffee too.
Thanks again for the lift @guisborough_rob. Very kind and much appreciated.
Re: the wood? That will be fine @Norman_Conquest Yes drop me a text and we can firm up times etc nearer the day and of course I will let you know if unexpected events ie grandchildren duties get in the way, but Im pretty sure I will be available next Friday.
Cheers again for the invite this morning.

It was nice to meet the 3 of you today. As you said, strange how much we have in common. I was hoping to have time to have 30 seconds to wander around mima, as that is how long it took me last time 😭.

Sounds like a fun morning.

When are you all coming to Melton Mowbray for your coffee day then, Norman?? 😉

As Norman Conquest says, our next one is scheduled for 8th December, 10am-ish. Anyone is welcome to come along, no agenda as such, just blokes chatting, drinking coffee, eating scones or cake and seeing where the conversation goes. Hopefully we can welcome a few more folk who would like to come and simply want a bit of company. We are thinking of going a bit further afield to the Rusty Bike in Swainby, near to where SocraTees lives. Me and NC can help with lifts where required.
