First Rwanda flight leaving today

Look down parliament road and tell me they are all refugee please let’s not start name calling if you can not admit that a lot are not here just for the better life we see it a lot different.
Why don't you look down Parliament Road and tell me which of the economic migrants are here illegally?

People are disagreeing with something that has no outcome, but mute on humanitarian abuses in EU funded centres.

The EU has been off shoring migrants for an extended period of time to a number of nations. The poster was indicating the UK was sinking to a low. The EUs low, the one the UK helped fund? The EU's low is murder, beatings, sexual violence, extortion, forced labour, and inhuman conditions in EU centres.

Sorry but offshoring has been part of EU policy for decades, offshoring is increasing out of the EU, and we can study that policy of decades to inform our views.

Any observable history and standard in Europe is relevant to discussion.
Yes, right, ok but we can't directly influence what happens in individual EU countries but how are we going to halt the downward movement of the UK? That's what this thread is about, remember?

It sounds a but like whataboutery in all fairness but it is important that we know about this stuff.

I think why so many people are offended by the Rwanda plan is for decades we have been told that British people and British values are a shining example to the rest of the world... the EU included. Whilst it's disgusting what the EU are doing, for a time until recently with presumably our backing, we should be better. Rwanda shows we are not.

I'd say it makes us worse that the EU because we can see what they are doing but we are goose stepping down the same road.

This Tory is using illegal immigrants as the excuse for a decade of cuts to our services, rolling out the old chesnut 'YoU CanT GeT aN aPPoiNTmEnT tO See a GP anYmoRE'

UK government is shipping the people most in need and who at least need to have their case heard, out of the country to satisfy the most miserable, heartless I'm alright Jack pieces of **** in every pub in the country. All the while appealling to other developing countries to send us their best young people to fill the jobs in the health and care sector. This whole country is broken.

You have just made a statement. No murders, rapes, abuses, slavery .. There are no outcomes (yet) to study.

The Tories are not Nazis, Patel and Sunak would be victims of the proper goose steppers. Thats child like politics.

Sorry I dont understand this point we have been told that British people and British values are a shining example to the rest of the world ... The UK was part of what the EU were doing for decades, our money was balls deep in this. As a nation state we can also stop what occurs easily versus remaining part of the status quo in the EU,and pursuing the same path year upon years.

I seriously doubt this scheme from the Tories will stand up to cost base analysis, or be productive, it looks like a hyper expensive ineffectual **** and balls stop gap, however thats an opinion. There is the possibilty the Tories pilot could improve far beyond the humanitarian debacle the EU created because they are working away from that abysmal standard. British people, British people want better than what the EU pour money into.

The rush to condemn what the Tories are doing, while ignoring what the supposedly free and pro migrant EU were doing displays double standards. These double standard also do not assist creating solutions. No democracy does not control migration. All democratically elected government including a future left one will have to deal with this issue.

Rwanda seems such a nice place, why would they ever want to leave? Not too mention there's many europeans business owners living in the likes of Kigali, it's about time these small/large businesses start to hire locals, train them and share the wealth with the indigenous populations of these poverty stricken countries.

I often wonder that but it seems like a lot of the populace here don't want to do the jobs that are available.

Yes was in one of those pubs at the week. "Mates" were saying "fill the ships as well" get them all out. I had to walk out and go to another pub for a while to calm down.

…Many in here extol the virtues of the EU at every opportunity…

I honestly can’t say I’ve ever seen much evidence of that, over the 20 odd years I’ve been on here/previous board.

Wanting to remain in the EU and thinking Brexit is a massive self harm for the majority of us are not the same as extolling the virtues of the EU at every opportunity.

Some truly appalling posts on facebook today regarding these flights.
Some basically suggesting the deportees should die.
Absolutely disgusting.

One left on the flight...no way it's taking off. Back to the drawing board for the Tories. Scum of the highest order- it would be bad enough if they were all white upper class showing this contempt towards refugees, the fact many of them are second generation immigrants (Patel, Zahawi, Javid, Kwarteng, Sharma) makes it far far worse and absolutely disgraceful.
