I have it on DVD and haven't been able to drag myself to watch it. I know I will need a box of hankies to see me through it.
Coming from Ashington, as Big Jack did, when we were young all the older folk would call us Bonny lad or hinny, a very Northern thing and possibly even a very Northumbrian / Ashington thing.I loved big Jack. My absolute hero. He’d always ruffle my hair and call me Bonny lad whenever we saw him out and about
I didn't know that either. You know he turned out about 6 times for the Boro, friendlies & a couple of reserve outings, scoring 3 goals
Our best ever manager, IMHO mind
I think there’s an ASDA on the site of the pitches where he and his ‘kid’ used to play?Coming from Ashington, as Big Jack did, when we were young all the older folk would call us Bonny lad or hinny, a very Northern thing and possibly even a very Northumbrian / Ashington thing.
I’ll be watching this too but like others think there’ll be very mixed emotions. There is of course the Boro link, but for me personally there’s also the Ashington link. The man was an absolute giant for this town and almost worshipped by everyone here.
There’s a newish Asda store that’s been built on Portland Park which was the ground of Ashington AFC until a few years ago.I think there’s an ASDA on the site of the pitches where he and his ‘kid’ used to play?
Loved the bit after the Ayresome pitch inspection in the snow, him and Bobby are stood by his car and he pops the boot open and gives him a pheasant and a rabbit. There is a decent bit about the Boro, usual footage of him on the pitch collecting tracksuits, him and Bobby talking outside the office after a pitch inspection, training on the moors, and mucking about with the players in the changing rooms.
Agreeing the Boro v Preston game can't go ahead due to the awful weather conditions, frozen pitch etcThere is a decent bit about the Boro, usual footage of him on the pitch collecting tracksuits, him and Bobby talking outside the office after a pitch inspection, training on the moors, and mucking about with the players in the changing rooms.

Great storyGreat bloke, our car broke down near to Mansfield on the way to Forest (5-1 defeat) gave us a lift back home on the team bus. Looking forward to tonight's programme, even though it will be hinged with sadness.

We won the arranged game 3-0 a week later
