Gary Hamilton put one of the finest displays in a Boro top when playing at right back against the on fire Lee Sharpe when Davenport scored his first Boro goal. Immense performance.

I remember v Man Utd (january 2nd 1989) Gary Hamilton won the ball & played it to Rippers, then got clattered by Bryan Robson, ref seen it but waved play on, about 60 seconds later Peter Davenport scored his 1st Boro goal & unfortunatly our last home win of the season

As we celebrated the winning goal from Davenport the ref strolled over to future Boro manager, showed him the yellow card for his tackle on Gary Hamilton
