Favourite cocktail?

Rum old fashioned for me, but it’s a proper sipper and the only cocktail where the quality of the rum matters.

Other than that any rum cocktail works for me pretty much, although I’m not a big fan of mint so mojito’s aren’t my favourite nor are the Brazilian cairpirinha’s.

Daiquiri’s of any type, hurricane, dark ‘n’ stormy (I keep a bottle of goslings black seal just for this classic), mai tai, pina colada, painkiller, cable car, zombie.

Well made Long Island Ice Tea is also a favourite and the only reason I will keep a gin in.

Old fashioned for me too.

But I did get quietly sozzled with some folk in the village drinking Prosecco and limoncello with raspberries in. Not sure what it’s called but it certainly got me slurring.

I’m not a drinker, always jealous of those who seem to enjoy it.
I do like Pina Colada though, I think it’s because it’s milky, milk happens to be my favourite drink.

Creamy I guess is more accurate as the coconut cream doesn't actually have any milk or cream in it - Pina colada should not have milk come anywhere near it.

White rum, pineapple juice and coconut cream is the official method but probably the best way to make it is pineapple juice, coco real coconut and koko Kanu white rum made with coconut. Any Malibu should be kept as far away as the milk.

I like a mojito. But have a soft spot for a Cosmopolitan.

Rusty Nails and Old Fashioneds don’t hit the spot for me. I see a cocktail as a summer drink. Whisky is for cold nights.

Recall one of Anthony Bourdain's travelogues where he was getting smashed with Josh Homme out of Queens of the Stone Age. Their poison of choice was something called a Corvette Summer. Can't remember the exact 'official' ingredients but the way I made it was.

Equal parts vodka and tequila in a big glass jug. Hoy in plenty of ice. Top up with equal parts fresh grapefruit juice and tonic water. Add juice of 3 or 4 limes. Better than the sum of its parts.

Best cocktail bar??

Went to a place called duck and cover in Copenhagen. It's a bit out of the way but the cocktails are well nice in there. And yes I tried the negroni.

Other than that Atlas bar in Singapore is truly epic and I'm also a fan of Scarves bar in London
