Favourite Britt memories

23 million total cost for Britt's transfer, agents fees and wages. In 4 years and 42 games against top 6 championship teams he scored once, a brace awat to West Brom as a sub. He was bought to be the man to get us promoted but didn't have the footballing ability to make any kind of impression against the decent teams. He wasn't brought in to bang goals in against Rotherham, Wycombe, Barnsley and Luton. He was meant to be 'the difference' between us and teams like Norwich, Wolves and Swansea.

He won't start banging them in at his next club, he's shot, he has been worked out.
That West Brom game would be my favourite Britt memory and one of the games where I watched him and could see why we spent £15m on him. Unfortunately those games haven't been often enough, maybe 1in5. The only compliment I can pay is he hasn't been as much of a waste of money as Afonso Alves.

I think he'll still be here tomorrow as I can't see Bristol City paying him what he thinks he is worth!

Or to put it another way, he has a 100% record of failing to be a 20 goal a season striker. He isn't our best striker either. Fletcher has a similar goal scoring record at CF and is a better footballer.

You say that like we have plenty of other 20 goal a season strikers waiting to join us.

Fletcher when fit is our best striker, but it could be at least another 5/6 weeks before we see him at full fitness, season could be done for us by that point.

No, I say it like I expect a record signing CF to be pushing for 20 at least, no settling for 14 or 15 a year. You could have got the same goal return by signing an agricultural League One CF with limited ability to control a ball.

The fee has nothing to do with the player, it was us that was daft enough to pay it and give him those wages. It doesnt change the fact that at least for the next 5/6 weeks until Fletcher is fit, he is our best striker by a considerable distance

I get that he is frustrating but he has not gone anywhere yet and its looking like he wont be going anywhere. While he has the shirt and the captaincy armband he deserves the support. I like Britt, he has the potential to be a big problem for defenders. He is much better when he has a smile on his face and I am glad he was given the responsibility to lead the team this year.

We clearly over paid in fee and wages so I am not sure how sustainable his transfer has been in the long term. If he stays then great he has a few months to get himself a move at the end of his contract by getting some consistency.

We made some money back on Alves (£7m?) so maybe Britt will turn out to be the more expensive signing of the two!

Enjoyed his lobbed finish away at Birmingham.
We won 2-1 and as we we were stayed over it made the evening so much more enjoyable :)
We scored, then they scored.....lots of 'Garry Monk, Garry Monk' songs, then Britt scored to stick their songs down their throats.
Think this may have been the same season as the WBA game? My eldest son went to that game.
Just a shame these thrilling moment were so few and far between......3.5 years since he signed.

Can you remember Roy Keane and Steven Gerrard trotting about laughing their socks off . I’d love to see him laughing if he at least scored a third of his one on ones

Interesting fact, Gerrard's Liverpool shots on target per game 0.7. Assombalonga's Middlesbrough shots on target per game 0.675.

More importantly they are totally different players. Some players like to play in adversity some don't and need to enjoy their football. Boro fans are fast becoming like Newcastle fans and we just like to slag players off it is toxic as hell. I could give you some stats about the number of chances created for Britt at Forrest compared to here but it wont make a difference to people's minds. On average he got double the chances at Forrest which points blame to our build up play. He also scored more of his goals from within the six yard box at Forrest than at Boro. We have never played to his strengths.

Agreed that the fee and wages are not his fault......but that doesn't change his level of performance and ability, top League One bottom championship run of the mill player. He really isn't our best striker by some distance, if you think that he is the best anything you haven't been paying attention for 3 1/2 years

What irritated me about him was his work rate /performance v Forest . He turns it on when he wants and I got the feeling that factor wasn’t lost on NW by his comments about his match after the game . For me it Illustrated he’s been firing on 3 cylinders .

No he isn't.
He is however our biggest waste of money by a considerable distance in the current squad.

But you think he has a lovely smile 😉
