Everton get permission to build new ground

I like the look of the mock ups, and it'll be good to have a bit more distance from Anfield.

Only shame is it's probably going to end up having some soulless sponsored name like the rest of the new ones.

They’ll regret it. Remember when Liverpool were going to move to Stanley Park? Never imagine it now and in hindsight it’s so much better if you can redevelop an original stadium. Same with Ayresome. If we could’ve turned that, eventually, into a 30k all seater and still kept our spiritual home then so much the better. Good luck to Everton but Goodison is an awesome place and sad to lose for them but for everyone too.

Regret it? Give over.

To be blunt Goodison is a dump and whilst I get all the teary eyes at the loss of another ground day - sat in those terrible seats on the side terrace with a restricted view was crap.
The regeneration of the docks in Liverpool is crucial to the city and the fact that Everton are part of that is significant. My Toffee mates are cockerhoop.

Fully agree👍

I think we all get a bit naustalgic about old grounds. I think of Goodison and remember the FA Cup or more so going and seeing Higgy Score a brace in a 2-2. It must have been Xmas as I'm sure I had a Boro santa hat on.

That said it's actually a bit of a dump. The usual wooden seats and more so restricted views. It's got so much history but give me a nice ground where you don't get a pole stuck in front of you any day.

I remember going to QPR and couldn't see a 3rd of the pitch because of a pole. Clearly I moved as not full. If it had been I'd have payed £34 for the privilege.

Never liked the ground. I thought Anfield was only marginally better, with the pillars restricting view.

They have had permission twice before, once at Kirby and again dockside where the Liverpool Arena is now.
Lets see if anything happens this time.

I remember Arsene Wenger saying one of the best things of English football when he first arrived was the grounds. He said only in England could you drive through residential houses wondering where the ground was only for it to suddenly appear.

The country is slowing losing all that.

The cost of the stadium will probably be spread over 20 years so around £25m a year, if its built to budget.

Access for 52,000 could be an issue looking at the drawing. Water stops access from one side and there is a major road running on another side.
