I know he's not a left back, but he's been able to fill in there for us before amd given the dearth of talent England enjoy in that position, Lewis O'brien can't be far off a call upNot a single Boro player in the England squad. Total disgrace.
Love it! Haha. Reminded me of the San Marino game when they were losing about 4 nil, had not left their own half and brought on another defender late in the game!!!I think we need to look at outscoring the opposition so I'm going with a one man defence, one defensive midfielder, six man attacking midfield and two strikers.
Kane Olise
Palmer Foden Bellingham Saka Eze Trent
Rice
Stones
Pickford
I wonder if Southgate, or the FA in general, have tried at all to get Olise to switch back to England instead of France.
Good points well made. You could also make an argument to say that you have to play Foden in his optimal position and fit others around him. They're two of the best players in world football right now and it's difficult to judge who is currently the better player.
Bellingham has performed well for England playing box-to-box, and was outstanding playing in that role for several seasons at Dortmund. Foden however has struggled to perform for England playing out wide. He's never really been given a run of games playing as a 10 for England, but it might just be the key to him managing to replicate his club form at international level.
I feel it's different to the Lampard and Gerrard situation. The reason why they couldn't play together was because it left us with no defensive midfielder. John Terry spoke about this on a podcast recently and said as a defender you'd notice we'd be getting over-run in midfield, as neither of them wanted to sit and protect the defence. That wouldn't be the case if Bellingham and Rice play together in my opinion.
Jamie carragher made a good point (for once) on a podcast. This season Kane has been the best player in Germany, Foden the best player in England and Bellingham the best in Spain. Exciting times IF we can correctly utilise our attacking threats

Yeah, it's looking bright for England.
However, Norway currently have the top scorer in Premier League and La Liga.
They failed to even qualify
As ever - there is no i in Team.
Did he mention our mediocre and ageing defence?Jamie carragher made a good point (for once) on a podcast. This season Kane has been the best player in Germany, Foden the best player in England and Bellingham the best in Spain. Exciting times IF we can correctly utilise our attacking threats
I have no doubt we will, for me you worry and work on your weaknesses to be successful. Can we get a fit back 4, can we get someone to successfully act as the wavebreaker, slowing down counter attacks which is where we are vulnerable. If I was lining up against england, quick passing on the counter is how we are done.Jamie carragher made a good point (for once) on a podcast. Like everyone I think the defence has is its shortcomings, but there's a lot to be said for having a settled unit.Did he mention our mediocre and ageing defence?
