England very poor so far

Dull boring negative Sir Gareth strikes again. Back Six against Scotland! Wow. Far to much loyalty in Stirling and Kane when they are simply poor. Slow - back pass after back pass - like watching the Boro. Another great opportunity lost because we have a turnip in charge. We have some good players but not getting them on the pitch as he plays his favourites. Terrible to watch and deeply depressing- not good enough Gareth

What really peeves me is I've been looking forward to this all week. I was genuinely excited for this match, and I'm annoyed that I was served up such a tepid soup of a game.

For all the talk about the best attacking players for years we don't look like scoring Kane looks out of sorts and the rest of them don't look like scoring . I really see us struggling for goals this tournament. Maybe one of Phillips and rice needs dropping and the formation changing.

Take for a major shake up

If England finish 1st they play Portugal, France or Germany.
If England finish 2nd they play Sweden, Slovakia or Poland.

...then play Portugal, France or Germany in the quarters. I struggle to see your point.

We’re not going to fluke our way to the cup, winning breeds confidence, Southgate is still managing as if he is trying to stay in the premier league.

James rarely looked interested in pushing forward, Mount and Sterling both poor, centre midfielders sideways passing, only Shaw looked interested on getting the ball forward. Kane can not be fit, he looked shattered and ambled around with little purpose, Grealish did what he could with little support and movement around him. Taking Foden off was plain barmy, he was our best player in the forward thinking players by a mile.

Scotland showed the others how to nulify us, we looked scared to play with a fear of losing.

Loads of problems there but one of them is that Reece James (and Shaw to a lesser extent) was so poor on the ball.

We've got hardly any creativity in the team so you need something to come from the full backs especially in that system, even if it's just swinging balls in. This is why I'd play Trent or Trippier every time.

Every single time James stood still, waved his hands around a bit and cut back inside for a safe sideways ball.

He's excellent defensively but man, if you're playing your most defensive full backs to counter the threat from flipping Scotland, it doesn't bode well for playing France.

Scotland were brilliant, so organised.

I think Southgate has major ‘blind spots’ in his management capabilities.

Looking at the team today and then comparing to 96 side.

There are no winners in this team whatever. No passion, no fight no intensity.
