Where are all the Southgate white knights?

Dreadful game management, terrified of losing again. Should have made subs at half time. Taking Foden off instead Phillips/Rice/Mount/Sterling is bizzare at best, criminal at worst.

Czechs will be looking at that performance and really fancying their chances against us on Tuesday. Big changes needed.
 
Scotland were marshalled so good, disciplined so good, England were the total opposite, boring, lethargic & one dimension, Scotland thoroughly deserved the draw

Before tonight I can't remember the last time I watched a full 90 minutes England game, I won't be watching another for a long time
 
looked like we were playing on quick sand. No pressing, no desire, second to almost every ball in midfield.

Will happily take a point and go again.

It's like an FA cup game when we play Scotland, they raise their level to something they can't get anywhere near in other games.
 
What a waste of time. Two subs on out of five when we desperately needed to change things. Ball going back more than forward? Drawing with the third lowest ranked team in the tournament? Yeah, bring on Italy, France, Germany.
 
It’s ok though because Gareth wrote a load of patriotic Shyte to the England fans last week while he was handing out caps to players not even in the final 26. This team looks a million miles from the finished article and despite all we are told about form being key the same old established players are racking up caps drifting through games and two holding midfielders sit knocking the ball from side to side while we hold on for a draw against the third worst side in the competition.
 
Well that was pretty rubbish. Looked like a team not wanting to lose. Put very little pressure on them. Looked like we wanted them to take the initiative and to counter attack them by sitting deep and sucking them in. Kept on passing it sideways to a man rather than playing a slightly more risky diagonal pass. The man who received the ball would then play it to the man who was diagonal without drawing any players towards them this rendering the first pass pointless as it should have just been played diagonal in the first place. If you get what I mean.
 
We've seen this playbook from Gareth in our relegation season....playing a centre half in midfield at home v Blackburn for a 'good' point...next game he'll bring in Connor Coady for Sterling to nick the point to qualify.

That's the only 'positive'. I can't believe we were so poor. I guess it's not the old enemy like in the past. Everyone hugging at the end.

We just look so flat. The thing is everyone worried about the defence. It's going the other way that's the issue.
 
That game goes to show Southgate is clueless. We have array of attacking talent yet we sit with Rice and Phillips for the full game against the 3rd lowest ranked team in the tournament.

lack of creativity, too many side way passes ,no cutting edge. Cant even remember a clear cut chance for us in the second half. We have an abundance of talent yet it feels this team has regressed rather than progressed since the last World Cup. Must be having a laugh if people think we have a chance of winning this tournament.

Foden off, stick with 2 CDM, Rashford upfront instead of DCL, Sterling full 90 mins, No Sancho (the guy has been tearing up the Bundesliga the last few months) - he hasn’t got a clue. Any other nation would be building the team around Foden and Grealish both in the starting lineup together yet this **** is set in his defensive ways. Suppose it spoke volumes when he decided to select 10 defenders for the 26 man squad.

Get this tournament over and done with, sack this idiot to give us half a chance for the World Cup next year.
 
Garbage.

Foden was the only player that looked like he could do something and got taken off.

Grealish not really given enough time to have a say. You could see in a few moments towards the end how he can carry the ball.

A few people pointing the finger at Harry Kane looking off the pace, maybe so, but he’s feeling off scraps most of the time too. We know he’s a good finisher but if you can’t create chances for him regularly then what does it matter.

I thought the midfield went missing for most of the game.

I think Sterling must have naked pictures of Southgate and threatening to leak them because he seems to be a certain to play 90.
 
Shockingly poor.

The usual England problem of over-rated ordinary players and a manager not picking the right team.

Mount, Phillips, Rice - somebody tell me why they are in the squad never mind the team.
 
The only positive is that they have probably qualified now. They will get better, but Scotland deserved to win that.

They were quick and direct and had the best chances.
 
Very disappointing. Southgate - too cautious. Too loyal. Baffling decision to take off Foden. Sterling was very poor. Pedestrian in midfield. Worrying that Kane is clearly not fit and Rashford didnt impose himself on the game when he came on at all.
