Doesn't know his best x11 even after qualifying and friendlies. Pretty embarrassing and incompetent by Southgate. Going to get hammered for it and rightly so.

Horrific display tonight. Very lucky we have 4 points.

Unless he gets it right in next game were out in a knockout game.
 
They’re clearly not. It’s a team with too many players struggling to find their best at the moment.

It will either click and they will start playing at their potential again, or it won’t and it’ll be a grind.

Someone compared England to Real Madrid the other day. A team capable of brilliance but one that also seems to just dig in and grind. I’d take England doing a Real Madrid this summer. Real have won two CL in 3 years without ever being the best team.

The difference with England and Real Madrid is though they have an experienced winner leading them. We sadly don’t and I’m a Southgate fan. Fingers crossed he can find a way for us but it’s looking bleak

They clearly are Nero.that's been the problem now and over the last 40yrs, How many times do these players play together?

Trent not a midfielder, no natural left back, picking players to play out of position.

You can have great players, but if they don't play collectively as a team then you won't win games, tonight's game is a classic example.
How many Danish players would get into the England team? arguably none of them, yet they played as a team, and were the better side.

Exactly ⏫️. All those games and really no further forward. Miles away from Spain, France or Germany grade.
 
We had literally all the same threads and the same posts and the same knee jerk reactions when we drew with Scotland in the last Euros. Then exactly the same again when we drew with USA in the World Cup.
England played poorly today, very very poorly, but they've effectively qualified already for the next round, will probably top the group and then we'll need to step up. We've done it before and we can do it again.
 
Lads it's been the same for decades. Never changes, get used to it - it's England.
 
At the bare minimum an international manager should pick a formation that plays to the strengths of the team and that involves playing players in their normal positions.

Southgate hasn’t managed to do that.

A bonus would be a manager that’s able to recognise when things aren’t going well and quickly be able to adapt.

This team is blessed with successful players offering predominately attacking options.

We don’t deserve to win the tournament, but we have a squad that the majority of teams in this would be jealous of.

To hear him lament not finding his best midfield in “7-8 years” and not having a replacement for Phillips is baffling.

He could start with picking a midfielder to play in centre midfield rather than a right back.

I’ve seen enough.

That he should’ve worked out with his so called coach before the friendly games
And not taking Mitchell from palace now looks like the most stupid decision of his whole tenure
 
We have 11 individual players but no leader, the team look knackered yet we aren't playing a high press to even justify that. Put the best side out we have and let it flow main issue for me is Kane yes he scores and no denying it but he is killing our play dropping far to deep and not offering an outlet his legs just don't allow his to play 1 up top, that and no LW kills us everyone tucks inside with no positions
