Does Engel actually offer anything?

I don't think I've ever actually seen a worse passer at this level of the game. His pass completion must be somewhere in the low 20s. Also Barlaser, what does he offer defensively? He's completely passive and simple cut outs just go by him. Maybe he can play in a more advanced position but he's never a CM. Engel unfortunately just hasn't got anything to offer in any position.

Worst left back I’ve seen here in many a long year. Can’t defend, constantly out of position and constantly gives the ball away cheaply - he should not be starting week in week out for us. I’m just amazed he seems to get a feee pass on here by most every week

I'm not singling out engel purely on this game. I've watched almost every game this season and he just doesn't offer anything. Barlaser offers something going forward at times but his weakness defensively outweighs his attacking threat by a country mile

Well that is surprising but certainly not what I would expect from a team looking to compete in the top 6. Just watch him next game he plays. His passing is awful

That's a pretty poor completion rate for a full back.

Dijksteel and Tommy Smith both at 85%. Ayling at 81% who i also think has been sloppy.

Each make mistakes but our style of play is so volatile, we need to give these players the season to bed in and get all our players back from injury.

I’m not one to dive straight in and call everyone rubbish.

We need to be patient.

It's his defending that's the problem and he had a shocker on that front today.

Engel is 25 years old and had had 30 odd games. He's equally as shyte as he was when he got here.

Barlaser is mid 20s as well. Had more than enough games to show what he can do.

They aren't 20 year old learning their trade. They are just poor players. It's going to happen when you buy cheap. Some will work out. Some won't. These two haven't. Bin them

I'm one of the uber fans who normally defends every player but I've watched enough football over the last 40+ years and watched enough of these 2 players to know they are not good enough

His passing is average at best. He does knock.a couple of decent balls in most games.

It's been obvious from the start that he doesn't possess the basic attributes. I cabt see how people stick up for him

I think if we had anything up front, he would have a decent assists return - not to Giles level, but something more productive.

As it is he's a poor defender and we can't make anything of what he potentially could offer. If Thomas is more solid defensively (I don't really know) he should perhaps be getting his game instead.
