Does Engel actually offer anything?

I've seen enough, they are not good enough by a long shot. You're welcome to screenshot my post for future one-upmanship but I don't make these claims lightly.
 
I've defended him but think it's time to give Thomas a few games.

Our fans scream for the ball to be played to him when he's in acres of space on the left and then they pass to him and he literally just plays it to one of our centre halves.

We're supposed to be a passing team who play out from the back. He's absolutely awful at that. Even Fry finds his man more than Engel
 
I don’t know if I’ve become blinkered to this but I find it bizarre to single out Engel as poor at all today. It’s not saying much but for me there was atleast 4 or 5 players who were worse

Quite a few times during the 1st half we were trying to play it out from the back and he kept passing it back to VDB and putting us under pressure.

Like I said, my opinion is not based on today's game but it was just another nail in the coffin. I try to give every player a chance but he just hasn't got it I'm afraid
 
Hopefully both Barlaser and Engel will be sold in the summer

If someone in this chat thinks they are good enough for us to get promoted then they are wrong

We will make mistakes in our recruitment model, these two have not and will not work out for the club

Is it though? Once today I can think of when he gave the ball away with a really poor pass, but it was so far up the pitch is wasn’t really in a bad position at all. Do you recall him loosing the ball even in our half?

Barlaser on the back of today fair enough - but for Engel this just isn’t true at all. Unlike a lot of our players, he actually keeps up the pace of the game and rarely has more than a touch or two before deciding his pass

The play is slow and ponderous because of Carrick tactics not because of them
