Djed Spence extension activated!

Great news, the bonus is that if we end up playing forest in the playoffs it will really scupper their game plan. Then hopefully pick up 20mill+ for him as we sail off to the prem.

That's the ideal scenario anyway.
They would miss him, but they have a few other options, albeit against us in December they didn't do a great deal, which is good.

I don't quite get the hype of Spence mind, he's had like 1 goal and 1 assist for Forest and for us he was underwhelming. He does look to be in his best from now though.

I don't think we would even get 20m for Jones, who is better than Spence, so I can't see a way in which we would we get 20m for a player who can't make our team.

I'd laugh my nuts off if we did get 20m mind

There are quite a few areas we could drastically improve with 20m to spend.

It's the hype surrounding Spence. In the game against Arsenal, he showed he could mix it with Top flight players. Jones is a slow starter, it's his breakthrough season. Spence was ready and a regular @ 18 because of his size, he's got been playing at champ level for over 2 seasons now. Give Jones another season or two and the top-flight clubs will be sniffing around him. I think if we get anything less than £20m for Spence, we would be getting ripped off. My view is he's worth 20 / 25m plus 10-15% sell on cut.

20mil-25mil and I'd drive him. Then add a sell on clause of 15-20%. He would only need one good season and his value will treble or more (throw in an England cap).

You'd think he will be even better with a top coach and given licence to bomb forward in the prem. It could be 'easier' than in the champo as so many better players around him.

I get that a sell on clause comes at a cost. Its usually a lower fee or amount up front as your effectively gambling on him becoming really good and getting money down the line.

We don't wonna sell for 25mil and in 2 years he's signing for City for 100mil and England's back up RB. I know it's 'ifs and buts' but just look at Southampton with Bale. They actually had a the sell on clause bought out for 5mil..... Doh😂

Never say never, but barring long-term injures I can't see him getting a look in for England.

Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier are getting on, but they still have a good few years left in their career.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is only 23, and much, much better.

Reece James is only 22, and much, much better.

Behind them you've got players like Lamptey, Livramento and Justin.
Then there's Wan Bissaka who might refind his form.

England are incredibly well stocked at right back.

I can’t help but think we are getting a bit carried away here. His assists and goals aren’t impressive and while he is having his best season, he was pants for us before he left and all this talk of 20-25 million is crazy.
I hope I’m completely wrong…..but we might just have to settle for 15 mil 😆😜

He didn't play when he was 18, that was the 18/19 season, he's 21 now, in the 21/22 season. He was a regular for us at 19 (the second half of the 19/20 season), and a regular at 20, but not one of the key players in a side which was also not performing great, most were on his back I seem to remember (I wasn't mind).

Jones is pretty much already one of our best players in a much better side (he's our no 1 threat imo, or where our threat originates anyway), and has only really played this year, since Wilder.

As for Spence, to look at the Leicester game objectively (admittedly did not see full game, just 10 mins of highlights):
Him being caught the wrong side of his man, which Leicester failed to capitalise on
Him mis-controlling it just before Forests first goal, but was good positioning
No part in Forests second goal, which came from the left
No part in key chance before the third goal, which came from the left, or the goal itself which came from a corner)
Missed a relatively easy chance
Went to double press a Leicester player, which led to the guy behind him and another being unmarked, which ended up being the assist for Leicester's goal
Good run and one two for his goal, when Leicester were taking some risks trying to get back into the game, being 3-1 down away

Key thing for me, is that in most of Leicester's chances, he was never in shot, and for most of Forests chances he wasn't in shot either?

I don't get where the hype comes from, other than his hairstyle standing out, and can't see where the 20m tag comes from either, especially now?

I'm not saying he's a bad player, far, far from it, but I don't see how he's proven to be a good player. He has scope for further development of course, but hasn't featured at all for the U-21's etc.

It's annoying that him and Jones have similar positions, but from what I've seen, I'd pick Jones 100/100, and I don't think we would even get 20m for Jones, if he wanted to go.

Great news on Spence's contract extension though, maybe Wilder will find a way to get them both in the same side next year, whatever league we're in.

Pants might be a bit harsh but he wasnt particularly good even at championship level and now people are talkung zbout £25m plus sell on clauses.

In my opinion FabioPorkpie's estimation of a vsluation of £15m is more realistic than the £25m being which is being talked about.

I think he is decent player but I don't see him as a world beater, now or in the future. His value is mostly hype and I think we should cash in before people realise that. Not a chance is he a £20m+ player so if anything approaching that is offered we should be biting hands off.
