Digital season card passes at the riverside stadium

Only for so long.....until the tech is completely "rolled out". (n)
No. It is the same as the fact they still take currency and are not just contactless - they do not want to make it impossible for some people to watch the match.
Sunderland and plenty of other grounds are completely cashless now. Middlesbrough have taken the view that many - very young and very old would find themselves out in the cold. So the cash option has been retained in the shop and on the concourse. The same will apply at turnstiles - there will always be ways open for people to get in without digital technology.

That's not what the FAQ says.

The club are pleased to announce the phased introduction of digital ticketing for the 2023/24 season, after consultation with Middlesbrough Supporters Forum.

Digital ticketing uses NFC (Near Field Communication) which is a short-range wireless technology, as used for contactless payments. It's secure, fast and easy to use.

Supporters who require a new Season Card for 2023/24 – including seat moves, price category changes, and new applicants – will be the first people required to download their Season Card onto their mobile device. These supporters will be contacted via email and/or post ahead of the new season with full information on how to get set up.

Digital ticketing will be phased in, in stages, for existing Season Card holders over the course of 2023/24, and the club will keep fans fully informed in advance of changes to their requirements.

Please do not get in touch with the Ticket Office until/unless you have been contacted by the club regarding digital ticketing.

Digital ticketing will ultimately replace all physical Season Cards, with plans to push match tickets to digital ticketing in the future
. Supporters should continue to use their existing Season Card until informed otherwise.

A spokesman said: “NFC and mobile ticketing is something we’ve been keen to introduce for a while, and we’re delighted to be in a position to move in this direction.

“A phased roll-out means we can allocate resources more efficiently and provide additional assistance to supporters using the technology. Each area to be rolled out will be contacted as the season goes on and will receive full information on how to use NFC.

“This is a real positive step in that it will make it easier for supporters when it comes to purchasing tickets and for Season Card holders to be able to access their own pass via their chosen device.”

Im talking about their intention to phase out physical season-cards altogether - which is their aim.

What are the rules on refunds on season tickets?

Surely this is a significant change in the terms and conditions.

If someone does not want their season ticket in the format presented by the Club, because they don't have the correct smart phone or don't want to use that technology - will there be time before the Millwall match to have an alternative method such as an electronic card.

Yes, we know all about that - but the press release says the intention is to extend the tech to all season cards.
What "alternative" do you think they will have?

They have said there will be plenty of time

They are not bringing it in for the start of season - only for new season ticket holders.

It says you can forward your ticket but only to friends with in your my friend and family network. I work away so give half my season ticket away how do I add someone to this

RL - I would have thought your grandad could have an alternative method such as card or paper ticket, but someone will need to communicate with the ticket office. I know its all very rushed, I suspect over 20% of fans will not have the right technology or not want their season ticket in the way the Club have defaulted to. My fairly recent smart phone has not the right technology from what I can make out.

The advice from the club is that a cheap Smartphone can be purchased for about £35.
Can we have a reduction on the price of the season card for that - or can MFC provide all season card holders without a smartphone - with a complimentary smartphone?
Are you sure you received this advice from the club?
