Cristiano Ronaldo

This is always worth another post.
Why?

All it shows is James Morrison failing to connect with a player from a yard away. Pathetic attempt by Morrison really.

He didn't even touch Cristiano.

If he snapped him then fair enough, but he didn't lay a glove on him and ended up with a red card.

James Morrison was made to look like a complete mug.

That clip is embarrassing.

Another reason I imagine teams would be put off signing Ronaldo is at his age teams often look to older players to help the younger players and be an example. This sort of thing makes Ronaldo look like he’d be terrible at this, all he cares is about him and his scoring rate.
Someone else who has a reputation of being all about themselves, ibrahimovic has been praised for his influence in the dressing room and affect on young players at Milan.

You mean the man Utd team that played Mctominay, Fred, Maguire, Lindelof and Rashford all well out of form or not good enough?
So I think you agree with me then that it's not just about one player but the whole team and "born winner" Ronaldo signing for Arsenal wouldn't necessarily guarantee the title at all, just as "born winner" Ronaldo didn't guarantee Man United doing anything.

If he moved to Arsenal he might help them win the league. He might not. But if he did and they did, it would be because the team (that's all the other players who don't think they're the centre of the universe) was good enough. He alone wouldn't be guaranteeing anything.

Can't have it both ways.

Genuinely surprised there isn't something in his contract forbidding this type of interview.

Unless, of course, there is and he's angling for breach of contract.
he won't be in breech of contract I don't think or he would put him self at risk of having to buy his contract out for major money, Will more likely be a 2 week fine scenario, but think they will just agree to terminate his contract and neither side owes the other so he can move on to who ever he lines up, ditching him in Jan would save 1.5 years wages for him which at 500k per week which is the best part of 40m

Now this incident is awful. The exact same thing happened to me. It’s very rare at full term to lose one. In North Tees the midwife said it was her first time in 26 years it had happened that she could remember.
Really sorry to hear you went through that, what is meant to be a beautiful positive lifechanging moment torn apart into a negative lifechanging moment must be impossible to comprehend. You can never move on from a loss like that but I hope that you have found a way to move forward

there probably are clauses about negatively discussing the club, and I'd expect the lawyers are involved right now

He's almost certainly breached the implied term of "trust and confidence". I think they'd reasonably be entitled to sack him on those grounds if they wanted to.

It would have been very interesting to see how he’d have dealt with being part of City’s squad, no way would they have started him every game and he’d have been a fool to think so.

In a lot of ways he isn’t showing much respect to United, it is the club that made him a global star and now understandably don’t want to build a team round him at the age of 38 or whatever he is. I can’t see how the fans won’t turn on him over all this stuff.

As above, have to consider that his traumatic experience losing his son is clouding his ability to see things realistically at the moment, which would be completely understandable.
I think Pep would have given him time off after he lost his kid and listened when his daughter was poorly.

I think you’re right, but I don’t know if Ronaldo asked for that after he lost his son? I also don’t know if Ronaldo would have rejected the role of “squad player”. But you’re right, maybe United could have handled it all better too.

He was given time off in both instances.

I really doubt that they forced him to return to training against his will after that compassionate leave either.

For all the complaints about their owners and management, they're not daft enough to be oblivious to the optics of forcing somebody to play after a child has died.

Just to add it I think the extreme ambivalence you felt (or still feel) was completely understandable and nobody should ever question that.

Let's not forget Mourinho said it was the one of the best seasons he'd ever had when they finished second due to stuff going on behind the scenes. Neville has quite often called out the Glazer's **** poor management of the club.

Agree and without paying out any cash. Might depend if they think they can get a transfer fee for him.

I'd sack him, save the wages and show that a player is not bigger than the club. Also go public that they were not paying up his contract.
