The reason that these measures are put in place is to keep the death rate as low as 5 a day, look at what happened earlier in the year, this virus has the potential to go from a few deaths to over a thousand a day in a very short space of time. How can that be so difficult to understand?

What you are saying may indeed happen if we get this wrong.
Some are saying the premise that because it happened before it doesn’t mean it will happen again.
And, they have evidence to support that.

None of us know and for anyone to take a position of certainty in either direction is basically taking a bit of a punt.
For sure I’d be planning for the worst in this case but have to be careful what measures are put in place.

We already know that over 5k deaths were wrongly attributed to Covid in the UK. This is a fact. Every person who tested positive for Covid and then died of something else days/weeks/months later had Covid on the death certificate. I've not just made this up this is a FACT

And, that has already been sorted and the numbers adjusted accordingly. Also, If I recall the 5000 were wrongly put in the stats. I’ve no idea whether the medics got it wrong or whether they were attributed wrongly by statisticians.

Personal view is Medics have an oath to uphold. You and others are suggesting they are not recognising that oath and basically lying or being negligent.

So you admit the medics may have got it wrong with the extra 5k deaths? If your mother who was in a palliative care ward living out her last days tested positive for Covid but had absolutely no symptoms whatsoever and had already been given days to live due to cancer, would you accept it was covid that killed, given that she was Asymptomatic?

Really sorry to hear what happened - horrible for you and the family.

I don’t know if the medics got it wrong or not in the past. I have no idea.
I know the stats were adjusted and we were given a reason by the government. Their track record in telling the truth by the way isn’t great.
They changed the reporting to say if you had Covid and within 28 days died then it would be Covid. From what you say your mother fit that criteria.

Not sure what I would say in the situation you mention. If I was to hypothesise I’d probably go with the medics.

They took that 5000 off the figures didn't they. Still over 40000 and riding. What about the 16000 excess deaths that haven't been included. What about the people who undoubtedly died of/with Covid and their deaths were put down as pneumonia or unknown virus as in two cases I know.
If the figures were being manipulated don't you think they would be bringing them down to show how good they were doing rather than as you infer raising them.

That isn't right. Those figures related to the daily figures announced which are not the same as the death certificate figures correlated by the ONS. Even the less than 28 day positives are not all put down as Covid-19 on death certificates.

I was reading a thread by a medical professional on twitter who said the death certs that said only covid as cause of death will actually be incorrect as the actual cause of death would be organ failure or pneumonia.
ONS up to around 57000 covid deaths now.

also worth noting is that in Marseille after Frances second wave, hospitalisation and icu beds are running close to capacity in the covid wards. We in the UK have to be very careful.
