Covid Jab invite...

I don’t think I’d want to travel 70 miles for a jab if I didn’t have to.
Think some people on here could cause a fight in an empty room if they tried hard enough.

I think if you are classed as clinically extremely vulnerable you shouldn’t really be expected to travel miles with the inherent risks involved in that. You would have thought suchlike would have been a consideration when organising roll out, no? I can understand clearly why you’d not want to travel miles and miles in those circumstances.

As a person who’s not classed as that I would travel.

Sputnik V for me at teatime. The clinic is about an hour or so away in a taxi towards central Moscow. Follow up in three weeks time.
Please let us know if you suddenly start having hallucinations of Putin in those 3 weeks whispering bad things in your ear. 😏

The way I feel I would go anywhere in the UK today if I had the chance of a vaccine, but when they are still on people who are vulnerable asking them to travel those distances seems crazy, not much of an issue if you drive but if you dont your having to put yourself at risk if someone can give you a lift, or if not then having to risk public transport. It kind of defeats the point of shielding for almost a year for some people

To be fair you're not expected to, it's an option if you want to. Otherwise you can wait to be contacted by your local GP. As the letter says:

A friend of mine (who doesn't drive) initially got an invite to a distant site, rang up the phone number given and got reallocated to a local pharmacy.

I got my vaccine last Friday. I'd have gone anywhere, but it was just half a mile away

It's nice to see that some sensible people popped up instead of the usual idiots that were at the start.

So as a clinically vulnerable person I have been invited for my jab.

The closest place for me to book to attend is 35 miles away and after that 50 miles.

Yeah, I think I'll pass on that and wait.

It'd be a long old walk.
Surely transport would be arranged for you to go and get the jab done and take you back home afterwards?

Nope, just got to make your own way there and back.
Chris, I'm CEV and got the invite to book a jab, did so through the NHS site this week and got appointment at Acklam Road Pharmacy, so less than a mile away. Might be worth trying again.

Don't worry about the people having a go at you not wanting to drive 70 miles, I get it. I've been shielding for almost a year so haven't driven at all. I wouldn't want my first drive after all that time to be a 70 mile round trip!

Just looked and it said I could book the first one and then said I'd have to travel to book the second one 🤦🏽‍♂️

I'll keep trying as the hours tick by and it'll work out eventually

Hope you get sorted, I agree that Newcastle is a long way to go for the jab, there should be a facility in Teesside.

Somebody in London doesn’t understand their geography.

There'll be plenty in London having to use public transport to get to vaccination centres, and it can be really slow moving down there.

Seems a bit ridiculous to me sending anyone from Teesside up to Newcastle.

I’m nowhere near getting a jab but from what I can gather I’ve got to travel 15 miles. To a NHS walk in centre. Would have thought there should be a vaccination centre in any town with a GP surgery but wtf do I know.

I’m also appalled at some of the responses to this thread. Unnecessarily hostile

Have ppl booked 2nd jab at same time as 1st? My NHS letter says I can on the NHS website but my doctor's say I can only book the 1st jab with them as they don't know when they'll be getting enough vaccine in future. If that's bad administration or reduction in vaccine to Manchester I don't know
