Covid Jab invite...

So as a clinically vulnerable person I have been invited for my jab.

The closest place for me to book to attend is 35 miles away and after that 50 miles.

Yeah, I think I'll pass on that and wait.

It'd be a long old walk.

my Mum had this too, she lives in Eaglescliffe and the closest was Birtley, she checked again later and the closest was Newcastle life centre.

I had option in and around Newcastle and then Leeds.
the same thing happened to my dad, he got the letter on Saturday inviting him to make an appointment which he did for Fairfield on Tuesday. On Monday Eaglescliffe health centre rang and offered him a slot on Wednesday, I think there is a little confusion within the system but it seems like they are making sure no one gets left behind. My mum is expecting a call and also keeps checking the site for a closer appointment.

My GF is in the same situation, currently checking every so often but waiting for the GP to get in touch in the meantime

For the sake of an hours drive surely it's worth it ?

Erm... No. They are advising not to travel and as you can see they are inviting people from far and wide to travel.

I'll wait for my GP to get in touch.

If they want to pay my travel costs there and back x2 and then I'll consider it.

I can't understand that reasoning to be honest.

If I got offered one today and had to travel a few miles I'd snap their hands off.

Aren't you always bemoaning the face we're in this mess ? If so getting as many people vaccinated asap will help us all get out of it ?

Know a couple of people on the original shielding list who had to go to Northumberland for their jab, obviously it's worth the drive if you can make it.

If you can't drive or don't have access to a car I can understand the reluctance to use public transport but even then I think I'd still jump on a train.

If you have a car then surely it's a no brainer.
