Covers that you never knew were covers.

So, listening to an excellent RockBlock on Planet Rock, they played ‘When the Levee Breaks’, by Led Zep. Not only one of my favourite Zep tracks, but one of my all time faves.
And it’s a cover.
I never knew.
Looking forward to discovering the original. Any others out there?

Strangely enough the first time I ever heard that track was Rosetta Stone's version. I didnt know it was a cover either.

You cant extend it that far, unless you're counting every sampled record as a cover ?

Shame really. There was an excellent Sheffield band called the Screaming Trees. Produced some out of this world stuff including sampling Janet Jackson(?). If New Order had produced what they did everyone would know them, but sadly they faded away into obscurity.
