As was Patti Smith's Because the Night and the Bangles' Eternal Flame.

Edit: I've just looked up Eternal Flame and it was actually a bloke called Billy Steinberg. I've been wrong for years about this one.

To be fair Because The Night has joint writing credits. Apparently Springsteen recorded the song and chorus but didn't have the verses penned. The song was handed to Smith and she wrote the verses and recorded it
