Cost to buy Giles, Archer and Ramsay?

Pure speculation obviously, but I’m wonder if we could get the trio for £20m, and if we could, would you consider that good business in the current transfer climate?

£5m > Giles
£10m > Archer
£5m > Ramsay

I would say it be a great bit of business given the age of them, and the potential of the lads.

Or even cheaper, an extension of there loans for another year? Bit cheeky maybe!!

think only a chance that giles is for sale, don't think they want to sell the villa lads, and wolves will have to stay up for them to entertain a sale.

I don't think that Archer or Ramsay are for sale, and Villa have high hopes for both. I imagine another loan is probably all we could expect.

I like Giles. His crosses and general play are great and he is a key player for us. Defence - he may struggle if we go up to the Prem. His value is going up because of his success in this team. I imagine that £5m is nowhere near enough.

As someone else said no way will Villa sell us Archer or Ramsey, may let us have one of them on a season long loan if we are promoted, hopefully our scouts are looking out for a mobile front man or maybe they are hoping to develop Finch or Kavanagh, Coburn a different type of player.

I'd love us to sign Giles on a perm. Yet really not sure what he's 'worth' to wolves. He's had 2 years on loan that suggests they don't want him.

Then again he signed a new deal last year. I imagine around the 4-5mil Mark. That's a significant outlay for a champo side to buy a LWB.

I'd say we have zero chance of buying Archer. I'd love to know what we offered in Jan. I woukd say he's in the 15-20mil bracket. Young / English and very highly rated by villa. Apparently criminally under used by Gerrard. I imagine he will get a full pre season with them to have a good look at him.

Ramsey is a bit younger and less experienced. I think he will get another loan next summer. So either division you'd expect us to have a head start on other clubs. Then again I think he's only got a year left going into the summer? I imagine he will sign a new deal then send him out for a year to boost his value (ala Spence).

Giles is the most realistic. I'm suprised it didn't happen in Jan. Although it's going to hinge on what league both clubs are in.

I don’t know about archer and Ramsey, if villla had them in their plans are they really worse then. What they have? I think the pure profit motivator will mean they have a price boro could afford if we go up. It’s a gamble to sell and a gamble to buy as a premier league club, both totally unproven and if archer continues with his current strike rate at least on paper he hasn’t moved the needle on his value to something a newly promoted side couldn’t afford.

Obviously from a boro fans point of view we watch the games and see his contribution and his clear potential. So long as villa stay comfortable I can see us getting a deal done.

Every player has his price, that's a fact. Archer, may get him for less than £20-25m IF Villa sign a couple of expensive forwards and he's pushed out of the picture. Ramsey..... 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ £10-15m based on current values of young English players attached to a PL club. Giles will be the cheaper option, but even he will not be bargain basement.

What’s it going to cost us to bring in another couple of forwards and a left back? At least these guys are low risk compared to bringing in foreign gambles. If we spend less than 60m (if we go up) we’re probably going to be on a wing and a prayer anyway

As alluded to above, a lot will depend on their parent clubs. Giles is most likely as they already have two good left backs, and if we go up, I'm sure he will be happy to sign, as unlikely to get a chance at Wolves. More complicated with Archer and Ramsey. I'm sure they would both love to play for Villa having come through the ranks, but if, as expected, Villa spend big, then maybe they will think they may not get a chance and view Boro as a good alternative. Might well end up being loans again (if we get promoted), but that is better than nothing. I would prefer if we could get them permanently (say 10M for Ramsey and 15M for Archer). That would be good value. However, they may want 20M plus like Wolves got for Gibbs-White to convince them to sell. Even then, Villa fans will be gutted, which may be the ultimate reason they don't end up selling.

Giles Ramsey and even archer are unproven in the Premier league. I am not convinced archer is prolific enough to make the leap in standard.

Reckon there is a good chance of getting Ramsey if he only has a year left. Gives him more power if he enjoys it here playing for Carrick. If not, it's clear what type of player he likes so the recruitment team will be on the case.
