Coronavirus it's not gone away

You've missed my point. If it's airborne as some say that must mean the particles are small enough to penetrate a cloth mask regardless as to if you are wearing one to protect others or yourself.
That's the problem the WHO have; if they accept a high probability of airborne transmission, medical grade masks would be required.

It absolutely F***ing disgusts me that pubs are open and schools aren’t. It’s absolutely F***ing ridiculous. I have a son going into year 11. He gets hardly any work to do at home and with all the will in the world, he can and will do only so much at home.
It really has boiled my ****.

And nobody would be allowed out of the house. Homes would have to be sealed shut by airlock. Food delivered by men and women in hazmat suits.
All bills and payments stopped.
Unlimited supply of utilities.
Everything shut.
Bodies in the streets.

🤔

In my opinion a mask must help with protecting both the wearer and those in the vicinity.

I can’t quite understand the reluctance by the government to recommend their use.

They are no big deal to wear and something is better than nothing isn’t it?

Take that up with the school. A friend of mine who lives just outside of Manchester hasnt had any contact from the school his son goes to since the start of May.

The link I put up above discusses the consequences of airborne transmission. Viral load would be low in an outdoor setting but poorly ventilated buildings with people in close proximity would be at a higher risk.

None of this means it should just be ignored. You do the best you can, hence mandatory facemasks.

Its not the schools fault. I’m key worker so he could go but just do the work they sent him home so there’s actually no point.
im not against pubs opening either but be honest, which is more important?
Let’s get them open in the correct order

So if you are a keyworker and he could go why hasn't he? Schools have stayed open for those kids.
As much as I hate this government I fail to see why it's their fault your son isn't getting the education you believe he should be getting when it's the school that is responsible for the education.

Do you have kids? School is basically a crèche. 1 teacher to do all of the lessons. Small class sizes. Kids of all abilities and different ages together. That is not schooling. He does the same work at home As he would at school.
You seem to have misunderstood my point. Schools should be open before pubs. Yeah, open pubs, but open schools first.
I don’t see how you can’t have the school open but it’s acceptable to the large majority that Normanby top was chocka block With about 200 people in the poverina. No social distancing, fruit machines on, congregating in smoking areas.
It’s ridiculous that pubs come before education.

I don't get where you are coming from?
Schools have been open to keyworkers. If you aren't happy with the education your child is receiving I'd take it up with the school head? Failing that the governors and of no resolution after that get in contact with the council.

Schools not being fully open is not the fault of this Tory government.

The government hired QC's stated it.
Barristers are experts at taking a piece of information and representing it in a manner which suits their (or more accuracy their clients) agenda. Only politicians are worse in the art of being disingenuous!

Schools are open one day a week (so technically open then), which in the real world translates to no more than half a day a week.

I think I rather rely on the plain facts than the argument of someone who is instructed to argue a certain point.

Well maybe, but not sure how they'd have addressed the capacity issue.

I actually think we'll be ok now as long as we keep mass gatherings (sports/gig crowds) off the table for the rest of the year. Reassess once winter's passed is the idea I guess.
I think the summer holidays has adversely influenced the decision to keep the schools (mostly) shut.

Right at the start if this, 2.2 million of the most vulnerable people in our society were told to say at home.

These 2.2 million people, are about to be released. As I said earlier, I hope that the virus is continuing to decline, but if its not, then we could be in big trouble.
Yes I'm glad someone has remembered about this group.

This is their 15th ( fifteenth) week of lockdown. The forgotten people.

It is a struggle now ( mentally if not physically)so much so that we broke out and went shopping on Tuesday for the first time since March. We also went out for an hour on Sunday to meet friends who we hadnt seen in 15 weeks.

Way way back in our many threads about covid I said that locking people into apartment blocks and large multi occupancy houses when he virus is potentially ariborne is basically creating virus factories (ie northern Italy and Spain). People were getting vexed about lots of people getting out into the sunshine in London parks when sending them back into tenement blocks was much more dangerous. Lockdown only really works if you do it before you have significant community transmission.

Great to hear. It's always going to be about how we personally feel ultimately.
