Connolly and Balogun

What did we make of their performances today?

Balogun did well to win the penalty but I still feel he needs to keep it simpler at times. He seems to struggle to get the ball out of his feet.

I thought Connolly improved as the game went on but a lot of the time the ball wasn't sticking up front because he'd control the ball with a heavy touch, or was just unable to hold it up. It did seem a bit nonsensical playing high balls up to him at times though. He had no chance up against their CB.

They're both working hard and you can see they're trying to link with each other but it just isn't clicking.

Totally agree with your assessment. Hopefully they will be firing by the play offs.

Yeah he was good

I think they would both be good as wide players in a three up top.

Connolly, great pace, good ideas but unfortunately I think his physique limits him centrally.

Balagun again good pace, very skilful but not a central striker. Back to goal is a real difficult thing, a real talent if you can do it. Not Balagun’s strength but why should it be

One of Connollys better games, Balogun looked quiet but did get the penalty which was key for us

Other than Balogun winning the penalty I can’t really remember them creating anything today.

Connolly worked hard but created nothing and never really threatened the goal.

The keeper made a routine save for his overhead effort.

Not good enough.

Yeah they would both probably perform better playing either side of a striker like Kane, who drops deep and has the two either side making runs beyond.

They're both having to play with their backs to goal a lot of the time and you can see they're struggling.

Thought Connelly played well today but the ball just doesnt go for him

I think its just not working for him here, these things happen in football, his attitude is spot on, he doesnt hide he just needs a break, thats my opinion though

Thought Balogun was really unlucky the other week when he hit the post, as has been said, just doesn't seem to be happening for him or Connelly right now, both confidence players and at times it's not clicking. With the amount of games we have coming up there'll be a rotation of all of them, Coburn, Watmore, Sporar included.

Am confident under Wilder they'll come good.

Both worked hard in a very scrappy game and didn't have many opportunities. Connelly's overhead kick was speculative and I think the only chance he had to shoot. Balogun did well to earn the penalty and showed bits of skill and may could have had a goal if Jones had found him just before half-time.

By the way; I thought the pitch looked heavy today which didn't help those two and the likes of Jones.

Like a rerun of Jeremie Aliadiere. You can see there's something there, they play with a bit of industry and attacking intent but you just can't see them keeping the ball, passing people and slotting home with composure like Watmore can.

We have a habit of taking to strikers like rescued sheepdog with half a leg missing. We like them, but they just don't do it like you really need them to.

I hope they both come good but at the moment it's just not happening for either of them, unlike Watmore that seems to have the knack of making things happen out of nothing.

In Connolly’s case I don’t think he has ever done it so I have no reason to believe he will come good.

Were picking up results what ever we think so I’m happy enough with who manager us picking . There saving watmores legs then he can come on for a cameo and take all the glory , even coburn will do the same I’d guess
