You reckon everyone in the area just decided to become crackheads? Or something else that has gone on over the last 15 years? It wasn't a terrible place, and doesn't need to be. Certain people have made it so.
People decide to take crack. You reckon everyone in the area just decided to become crackheads? Or something else that has gone on over the last 15 years?
They do decide to take crack yes but I don’t think it’s just for the hell of it.People decide to take crack.
Iam there regularly, it's no worse than other run down areas. The defenders of what the hell is happening here .....do not live in central Boro , do not see it daily, it has become a bloody lawless area but try & pretend alls ok ....it is if your not in there!!!!!!
I lived there all my life apart from the last 2 years but before I left it was a hell of a lot more dangerous than it was 25 years ago and it’s not even close.Iam there regularly, it's no worse than other run down areas.
Of course all is not well , it never is in the poorest areas.
I think some people see brown faces and hear people speaking other languages and feel threatened.
Would you feel safer walking round some of the estates after dark?
Not that long ago gangs of youths were roaming parts of middlesbrough carry baseball bats attacking people.
I don't feel any less safe walking that area than I would have 30 years ago.
As I said above the litter is a big problem and they seems to be a bigger drug problem, which doesn't seem as prevalent in the imigrant population to be fair.
Why would you say that regarding Linthorpe?Central Boro and especially the Parliament Road/Crescent Road area is awful now. Truly dreadful place to live.
Before we moved away recently we’d been in Linthorpe for 8 years and that area is on the same trajectory.
The decline appears unstoppable.
We only moved 4 months ago so my experience is very recent. Increase in crime, anti social behaviour, we literally had people fighting outside our house drunk, increased drug use, begging in the village etc.Why would you say that regarding Linthorpe?
Linthorpe is a great area to live imoCentral Boro and especially the Parliament Road/Crescent Road area is awful now. Truly dreadful place to live.

Because it's true in parts of Linthorpe. Why would you say that regarding Linthorpe?
Which parts?Because it's true in parts of Linthorpe.
Long term unemployment initially provided cheap labour for the drug industry. Now it's a major employer with all of the horrors associated with it.
The area talked about isn't linthorpe ?The parts towards the area being talked about. The kids that lived next door to my missus were involved in it and they weren't the only ones. It's the same across the country. Wherever I've had digs, Manchester, Reading, London there's been very rough areas as they're taken over by the drug mobs.
Slashing police and community services has contributed to the accelerating decline.
TS5, that's where the missus lived, towards the town end of it. Is that not Linthorpe? The area talked about isn't linthorpe ?
Enforcement so basically lock them up, surround them by hardened criminals/gangs for a few years then release them to be perfect citizens? All I am saying is enforce the laws currently on statute I.e. it is a criminal offence to use hard drugs. They are never enforced in practice and thus you see areas like Parliament Rd rattling with crackheads and criminals stealing to buy crack.
Ts5 is, the area that the thread is about, parliament Rd and surrounding area is ts1TS5, that's where the missus lived, towards the town end of it. Is that not Linthorpe?
