Central heating on yet?

No heating on yet. I'd probably be OK for another month or more. Yet the missues is making a few comments about being chilly. So far hoodies and jumpers are sufficient.

My other half is useless if it's not 20c or above. I walk into the flat in winter and it's like stepping off the aircraft when you first land in Ibiza😂

I've got a smart meter. I used to look at it all the time. Yet now it sits on Amber or red whenever fridge freezers etc kick in. That's without the heating. It never used too.

My energy company is yet to inform me of any price rise. The DD came out yesterday and it hadn't gone up. Thought it was strange as it's not changed (although £657 in credit).

Yep just ordered a slow cooker. Like doing stews etc and some of the recipes ask you to have it in the oven or a low simmer on the hob for hours. Not now. Has anyones reduction in bill kicked in yet??? I’m with Shell and think it starts with my bill this month??
I got my first off Shell on the 2nd October. Thought I would just pay my normal DD and get the £66 on top...but no it comes off the DD you already pay so I've had to up my DD by £66..if that makes sense

Not yet, think I might have another two or three weeks yet without the heating.
Never know, might make it to December.

Nope not yet. It's between 14 and 15 degrees inside unheated all day and evening so just hoodies and fleeces as I need them so far. If it dips soon will put the wall gas fire on 1 bar for a few hours. CH will be more a December thing although having put new batteries in wall thermostat , relinked the system , checked it switches on via the timers I'm good to go bar giving it one good test of firing on a high setting for an hour or so , may do at weekend. Skillbuider on youTube got the demo wrong on my make and model of bolier about the exact way to change over the batteries. That's an hour of my life gone and considering a) telling him how it should be done, and b) billing him at mates rates for time on the job :)

We bought a double slow cooker at Lakeland when they had a sale on a few years ago. One of the best things we have bought, the meals are amazing, especially joints, the meat is so tender it’s delicious.
Mrs subscribes to simply cook, so the recipes she gets with all the spices and herbs produce some incredible aromas when cooking meals in the slow cooker.

Had the log burner on once, not touched the heating yet.

I am continually amazed by the infatuation of some with keeping the house a similar temperature year round - we live in a temperate climate, it's supposed to be cold in winter and warm in summer? I understand a boost if it continually drops below zero but know people who strive for c20 degrees in their property, baffles me.

That said we lived without any sort of heating for two years when we moved into this house so I think I'm maybe getting used to it now.

1 LED lightbulb of 5.6w ( 60w filament equivalent) can run 8 hours a night (say 4pm to 12am ) for a month for 46p. So even if you have 10 on every night that's still only £4.60 a month. The case for HAVING to switch the LED room lights off the moment they are no longer needed has never been less. (the discipline is good though) An LED bulb left on for 1 hr more than necessary will take you to the cleaners for 0.2p.

this is good to know.

Thanks to the Hive TRVs, ours it on now and again in the living room, the rest of the house not. Quite mild today though
