Carrick to West Ham?

Given that West Ham didn't sack Moyes when they were looking like relegation candidates in early Spring, and then he went onto win a European Trophy and is now doing well in Europe and the league cup while sitting mid-table, it would be extremely surprising if he was to be sacked now.

That being said, there is a strange tendency amongst West Ham fans to believe they deserve a 'better' manager than Moyes. While I think Carrick is superb, his achievements as a manager don't (yet) get close to matching Moyes. It would be a very considerable risk on West Ham's part.

David Moyes is a F***ing great manager and if West Ham sack him they’ll get what they deserve within a few seasons, which will be relegation

If we fail again in the play-offs, he`s open to offers at a proppa football club - like Sunlun ;)(y)

Ha! As good a manager as he is (and he is obviously a cracking manager) I wouldn't want him. Pointless setting up a long term structure, recruitment model etc all based around a certain philosophy only to rip it up because a "name" becomes available. Our next manager needs to fit in around us, not the other way around. Which is what someone like Moyes would expect and understandably so.

Not that we'd have a cat in hell's chance of getting him anyway of course.
 
They need to be comfortable working within the model we've set up, otherwise why bother setting one up?

I'd imagine we already have a contingency list of multiple managerial targets for when/if Carrick moves on, would love to see it :)
 
Southampton and Brighton both appointed managers who had achieved very little in England based purely on their style of play. This is what football is now.

It's why I think we are better off with defensive organisational coaches. Karanka took us from the relegation places to the playoffs, then was able to improve that despite losing his strikers. No one seemed to even be sniffing around the club.

The owners at west ham seem fairly savvy though, and tend to ignore the Muppets in the crowd so hopefully this is hot air.
 
Managers come and go all the time, either sacked or been poached to a bigger club with bigger prospects, happens every season.
Not that I want him to leave, but if he did leave for West Ham, it wouldn't be the end of the world, we move on and continue trying to improve as a football club.
 
He will obviously leave at some point, all managers do, but he strikes me as a man who sees the value in building his reputation here, rather than jumping at the first opportunity.

He's just been offered an extended contract too hasn't he? Or did I imagine that.
 
Not understanding the Boro fans on social media trying to convince West Ham fans about the merits of Carrick, hahah.

We surely want them to be against him as an appointment, it makes it more likely he's here next summer.
 
if Luton go back down there's always a chance that Edwards would be an option for the Boro if MC leaves for pastures new.
 
West ham if you're reading this do not go for michael carrick, go for keiran mckenna he is the much better manager!!!!!!!!!!! Go for it !!!!!!!! He won't let you down.
 
Moyes has ended up in that ‘be very careful what you wish for’ camp of unfashionable managers with Dyche and Allardyce, where they get great results and overachieve but fans of the teams they’re managing whinge like ****.

I just don’t get it, I don’t know what more he could have possibly achieved at West Ham yet he’s always under pressure. But every club is the same, we did the same with McClaren and Karanka and I must admit I’d be unenthused by the idea of Moyes taking over here. It’s a weird one.
 
No established Premier League team who have just played in a European final would replace an experienced top class manager with a rookie just because he used to play for them. It's madness and a direct route to relegation. I mean, who in their right minds would do that?
