Carrick ; SERIOUSLY ?????

Bryan Robson Really Mr Gibson....I mean really...
Steve McClaren Really Mr Gibson....I mean really...
Aitor Karanka Really Mr Gibson....I mean really...

Another complete and utter novice. A novice beyond all novices.
I think Michael Carrick has more games in management under his belt than the above.

If he has the same success as the above hes good by me

And that Bruce Rioch.....................

Another complete and utter novice. A novice beyond all novices.
Except he isn't a novice, he's been first team coach at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Untried, untested and seems a quite laid back and 'vanilla' type character....
We had spikey, ranting and raving with Warnock and Strachan, didn't get us anywhere. The modern player rarely responds to that kind of management.

This squad needs experience around them. It doesn't need a novice whereby when we suffer 3 possible losses on the bounce someone with acumen & experience is at least able to draw on his experiences and remain calm, focussed and clear headed
Eh, you've just said he's laidback, i.e. not a ranter and raver, now you are saying we should get someone calm not a ranter and raver.......I'm confused.

At team with losses and in need of inspiration need someone they can look upto
Maybe someone respected in the game, as an intelligent player that played at the highest level, has a great network of people to lean on, is likeable, and has a massive bank of knowledge that's someone to look upto....inspirational, sounds like your asking for a ranter and raver again.

We have a relatively experienced bunch of players
are we? Lenihan, Mowatt and Howson are the only key players with 200 championship/prem games. Smith and are fringe player that takes it up to 5 players with experience at this level. Our 2 creative outlets have got 136 league starts between them and our 5 strikers have 253 league starts between them and nearly 50 of those games were in the greek league!

We have an inexperienced squad, with an experienced CM and a smattering of defensive experience, the rest are quite raw still.

Carrick is EXTREMELY well thought of in the game.

He's had one of the best footballing educations any player can have, a hard worker, very well respected and has the diplomatic skills to deal with awkward players and the Press.

And he has an unbeaten Managerial Record. Played 3, Won 2, Drawn 1.

It's a good fit for us and him.

We are in serious danger of dropping into League 1 and just look across at Sunderland for how difficult it is to get out of that league - players want to be off....if you drop out of the championship.

Who should we be going for....Carlos corberan, managed successfully in the championship, Wagner (out of a job) another with success and can handle big players. I would even take Dysche in the short term before Carrick even though I hate his football.

And what would people have said if we'd been Norwich or Huddersfield fans prior to Farke or Wagner, or Corboran taking charge. I can hazard a guess the same comments would be being made as they are now.

I'm not saying Carrick, or Edwards, are the right choices. But I'm not sure going for the same guys on the managerial merry go round are worth a go either.

I honestly have no idea. This is where Scott is going to earn his money and we find out if he's worth his job

I heard the wolfman is being linked….

The best managers in our history have all been novices. Anderson, Charlton, Robson, McClaren, Karanka.

It’s our way innit.
Woodgate? Murdoch?

Robson was given record amounts of cash and had Anderson and Pickering to support him

McClaren had been number 2 to Fergie for a good few years and again bought Southgate for £6m before the season kicked off

Karanka was given funds to buy and loan Tomlin and Graham soon after he took over, and had been developed at Real Madrid for several years.

I get the feeling to new person is not going to given a lot to spend.

What we need is someone experienced with a track record of getting promoted. Someone like Chris Wilder for example. Because that went really well.

Neil Warnock's free and has a better track record of promotion than anyone.... ;);)

What we need is a manager with a track record of never failing to win promotion. They're pretty thin on the ground.

As we all know there are only 2 types of manager out there: complete novices and dinosaurs.
Pay your money and make your choice...

Oh my word.

A NOVICE CAN'T DO THAT and that's where Boro are at. We have a relatively experienced bunch of players that need firm control and someone who can nurture belief and confidence to produce their best. We obviously need another 1 or 2 leaders on the field as well ASAP (which won't happen until January at the earliest) which makes having an experienced Manager at the helm EVEN MORE IMPORTANT.

I actually cannot beleive we are even talking to Carrick. It just highlights how poorly this club is now run....

I actually despair at my proud club and it's immediate future. 😞

Seriously....another carrick thread....seriously....gibbo....wtf are you playing at 😄

We had the most experienced manger in the whole country and youse lot hounded him out..
Make your mind up and get in the real world
Thanks 👍

The new person isn’t going to get anything to spend. The club will decide what we spend and on who. Carrick will have a say in the process. If he likes someone he will put it to Scott and Jones. The previous two managers weren’t happy with that and wanted to be calling all of the shots. Carrick, or anyone else, will sign up to that process, and if they don’t then they won’t get the job.

This is the way the club is going to be run going forward, as many other clubs are these days. It allows for continuity and not going through massive squad overhauls every couple of years.

Boro, with their present business model, only really suit a novice manager that knows no other way than recruitment through committee or a foreign coach as this method is more common on the continent

and someone was saying Gibson should consult the fans when it come to managerial appointments.... J, M & J and the little orphans.....

Pulis / Warnock and Wilder.... I'm not sure how the experienced managers have worked out

I mean they were all on top dollar and achieved little.

Oh my word.

We've tried every type of manager and they haven't worked. The experienced ones have held their own but not taken us forward. The novices have taken us backwards since Southgate. Who the hell knows what to do?
It feels like we need an 86 type reset again.
Looking back, Mowbray should have been given money.
