Captain Tom RIP

Many people are tagged as a hero, when in reality most are not.

Captain Tom really was a hero in the truest sense of the word.

Rest in peace, Sir Tom.

Set off to make a thousand pounds and ended up making nearly 40 million.
Originally £100, £1 for each lap/year of his age.

Putting aside why he was or indeed even felt he had to raise money for a government department wholly funded by taxes, he only raised £32.8m (plus GiftAid) for the NHS which is dwarfed by the 350m a week for the NHS that Boris pledged.
So who is the real hero out of this?

I would say Capt. Tom, not least because Johnson's 350M was always a lie.

Watching the story of his last year has brought a tear to my eye. As somebody said above this has hit me surprisingly hard. A truly inspiring man indeed.

Rest in Peace Captain Tom. I have to say I felt a bit down after hearing it on the news, but Classic FM played a nice Tribute to him. I think If someone told him in his life he'd accomplish all the things he did in his last year, he'd be happy with that.

Just woken up here in NZ to this very sad news. He was a beacon during lockdown last year no doubt about it. He was the hope and bright light.

NZ have just done the most warming tribute to him. His fame stretched across the globe. Sky Australia also remembering him with their own tribute. What a man. RIP
