Can't blame him really

Doesn't look that happy. From how long it took, right up to the last hour says him and agent still hoping something else would come along. Hope the £22m tag doesn't weigh too heavily on him and he settles and enjoys his new adventure

One of the first Eras Tour concerts was held there which was probably significant in him deciding to move

I am probably being silly but in today’s social media world I think it will be very rude of LL if he doesn’t send a thank you message to the Boro and the fans. Crooks etc have all done it. We gave him the chance to get away from sitting in a reserve side.

There are more important things to worry about than a player who was here 18 months making a performative Instagram post saying "Boro will always be in my heart"

Very true. However, I wasn’t expecting a “I love boro”. It only takes 2 minutes to thank the fans for the support and wish the club well. His agent could write it for him 😉

Should have stayed here until the end of the season and he would almost have been guaranteed a move to the premier league or other top league.

Guaranteed...?! The players are only ever one of our training sessions away from a couple of seasons out injured with a "knock". Definitely no guarantees.

It’s just a big stadium in a Mickey Mouse league. Should have stayed here until the end of the season and he would almost have been guaranteed a move to the premier league or other top league. Probably higher wages too. His agent is a greedy fecker.
Why do you think a PL team would definitely come in?
As far as I'm aware there's only Ipswich who have tabled an offer for him to date and it was a speculative last minute attempt in August. They haven't come back in for him and neither have any other PL clubs in January.

There's no guarentee at all. He'd be a massive gamble for any PL club especially at £20m.

His agent not been doing anything that he wasn't instructed to do by the player

Hence why I said almost guaranteed. He could have stayed and would have more likely continued a decent scoring rate and then surely would have got a move to either a promoted team or a mid to lower prem team. Then there’s Italy, Spain, Germany and France that would surely have been keeping an eye on him. I know what I would have done.

From what I was told, the club basically pushed him out after his agent's antics and the summer Ipswich debacle. He was always looking to move after his strong finish to last season so the club decided to cash in when Atlanta came calling. ELL didn't really want to go there, he thought he'd easily get PL offers in January but his agent has negotiated a huge pay package with Atlanta.

Good luck to him, I hold no ill will towards him, that's just football.

No player - certainly foreign - comes to Boro or any other club other than the "big ones" with a desire to play for them or a love deep in their heart. They come for money and as a stepping stone onto something else. It's a job for them. That's it. They might wave to the fans, kiss the badge and all that jazz .. but it's a job. They're forging out a career. Some might want to play at the highest level and win trophies. Some want to acquire as much money as possible.

Yes, ELL could give a thanks to the fans - but the fans are probably the last thing on his mind. He'll be thinking on how to spend his $$$, what house to buy and working on the plan with his agent to earn more $$$ in the future either at Atlanta or elsewhere .. if he finds 2 minutes when he's sitting on the loo - he might post a message .. but it's probably not his priority right now
