Burnley

Yes. Dont think it lasted very long and it merged with the Victor comic on its demise in 1982.

Another magazine was published under the same name shortly after but was totally not football related.

Yeah, brief for sure. I guess it couldn't compete with Shoot. I even remember the Boro team were the featured team photo in the first issue!

Slips size 12 boots on...............

Here’s my two penn’orth on Dyche and Burnley. Whilst I can not stand the man, I do admire what he has done on a shoestring compared to his compatriots. I think it is all part of building the aura around the club for the fans, keeping expectations managed, a sort of siege mentality for the team, its fans, the community spirit etc. Little old hard done to Burnley holding their own, punching above their weight against the big boys, upsetting the apple cart with a brand of football nobody appreciates or understands south of Accrington.

In some ways, it takes me back to my early days as a fan of the game. He has built a style of play that the big boys don’t like and every so often occasionally come unstuck, a bit like Man City did in the F.A. Cup in 2015 against some lesser club or other. Their results have belied their squad capability, on paper, year on year of late. I agree they are not a pretty watch, a bit like Boro under Pulis, but they were effective and might yet be. Their team spirit is greater than the sum of their parts. I have predicted relegation just about every year, but they keep defying the odds. Time will catch up with them, for sure, and, as I say, I am no fan of Dyche, Burnley or the way they play, but I take my hat off to their seasonal achievements of late, and Dyche has created the spirit and workrate that the players and fans buy into.
But why is he on a shoe string that would be my question as the prem is obscenely wealthy dripping in money and they yet don’t spend big and dont even pretend to redevelop the stadium.

so where is all this money Going year in year out and why are they always crying poverty.

why ???

I recently had every shoot & goal annual from the 70's & 80's within my collection, only a few left which have since gone to charity

Squad size, premier level wages, ground improvements, training ground facilities, Increased scouting, infrastructure, new players, eccles cakes, they all add up, they don’t and dare not run the debt others can with the banks I’d bet too

There's around £150m-200m alone unaccounted when you look at the income and expenditure since 2016; maybe saving it for a rainy day!

Already looks like there is one relegation spot left to fill after seeing Fulham and West Brom's opening games. I would be surprised if Burnley took it; that's not to say that they don't look too unlike that classic Sunderland team though, with terrible starts but always enough to pull through.

Dyche has done a job I'd be very happy with as a fan, but another year in that league and they must be looking at half a billion in income? Time to get investment in the ground because the good times don't last forever, as we can testify after a decade of PL football.

Also remember Dave Thomas, Colin Waldron, Alan Stephenson in goal, Steve Kindon, Frank Casper and Geoff Nulty. All appear in my Old Football Monthly magazines.

Fulham and West Brom look certainties. They're both the worst defensively in the league and neither look like creating much.

I think the last spot could be taken by Sheff Utd. They just don't look like scoring. And the loss of Henderson in goal could prove to be huge. He was immense for them last season.

Didn’t think about that. They paid a fortune for Ramsdale who they used to have and he’s no better than average. It’s crazy the amount of money poor and average players are going for- how much would Juninho, Rav and even the legend that is Neil Cox be worth?

People have their reason for disliking Dyche, I cant understand people calling him odious, though as I said, all about opinions, but what have the club done to deserve to be called such

Wish Boro had been as successful TBH

Have Burnley managed to reach the final of a European competition then?

They've done well to be fair, but I wouldn't be surprised if once they go they drop through the divisions, as they have done before.

They certainly haven't

My post was regarding since we both won promotion, we have fallen like a stone whereas Burnley have remained in the PL, not only survived in the PL but survived comfortably, a model we should follow
